System and method for state based content delivery to a client device
Abstract
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device having a processing system including a processor and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations including: receiving an operational state of an audiovisual player of a client device, wherein the operational state comprises a foreground operational state or a background operational state; and sending an ad placement request comprising the operational state to a decision server for a content request for advertisement content. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A device, comprising:
a processing system including a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
requesting, over a communication network, advertisement content from a first advertisement server associated with a first advertisement content provider responsive to an audiovisual player of a client device operating in a foreground operational state;
receiving, over the communication network, the advertisement content from the first advertisement server;
presenting the advertisement content on the audiovisual player;
requesting, over the communication network, audio-only advertisement content from a second advertisement server associated with a second advertisement content provider responsive to the audiovisual player operating in a background operational state;
receiving, over the communication network, the audio-only advertisement content from the second advertisement server; and
presenting the audio-only advertisement content on the audiovisual player on the client device.
2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the first advertisement server selects the advertisement content in response to the audiovisual player of the client device operating in the foreground operating state.
3 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the second advertisement server selects the audio-only advertisement content in response to the audiovisual player of the client device operating in the background operating state.
4 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations comprise selecting the first advertisement server to provide the advertisement content.
5 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations comprise selecting the second advertisement server to provide the audio-only advertisement content.
6 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the foreground operational state corresponds with the audiovisual player operating in a foreground.
7 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the background operational state corresponds with the audiovisual player operating in a background.
8 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the audio-only advertisement content comprises an audio content portion of the advertisement content.
9 . The device of claim 1 , wherein a function of the audiovisual player comprises one of play, pause, rewind, fast-forward, skip ahead, or volume.
10 . A non-transitory, machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
selecting a first advertisement server to provide a first request responsive to an audiovisual player operating in a foreground operating state; providing, over a communication network, the first request for video advertisement content to the first advertisement server associated with a first advertisement content provider; receiving, over the communication network, the video advertisement content from the first advertisement server; presenting the video advertisement content on the audiovisual player on a client device; selecting a second advertisement server responsive to the audiovisual player operating in a background operating state. providing, over the communication network, a second request for audio-only advertisement content to the second advertisement server associated with a second advertisement content provider; receiving, over the communication network, the audio-only advertisement content from the second advertisement server; and presenting the audio-only advertisement content on the audiovisual player on the client device.
11 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the first request indicates the audiovisual player of the client device is operating in the foreground operating state.
12 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the second request indicates the audiovisual player of the client device is operating in the background operating state.
13 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the first advertisement server selects the video advertisement content in response to the audiovisual player of the client device operating in the foreground operating state.
14 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the second advertisement server selects the audio-only advertisement content in response to the audiovisual player of the client device operating in the background operating state.
15 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the foreground operational state corresponds with the audiovisual player operating in a foreground.
16 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the background operational state corresponds with the audiovisual player operating in a background.
17 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein a function of the audiovisual player comprises one of play, pause, rewind, fast-forward, skip ahead, or volume.
18 . A method, comprising:
requesting, by a processing system comprising a processor, over a communication network, video advertisement content from a first advertisement server responsive to an audiovisual player of a client device operating in a foreground operational state, wherein the first advertisement server selects the video advertisement content in response to the audiovisual player of the client device operating in the foreground operational state; receiving, by the processing system, over the communication network, the video advertisement content from the first advertisement server; presenting, by the processing system, the video advertisement content on the audiovisual player; requesting, by the processing system, over the communication network, audio-only advertisement content from a second advertisement server responsive to the audiovisual player operating in a background operational state, wherein the second advertisement server selects the audio-only advertisement content responsive to the audiovisual player operating in the background operational state; receiving, by the processing system, over the communication network, the audio-only advertisement content from the second advertisement server; and presenting, by the processing system, the audio-only advertisement content on the audiovisual player of the client device.
19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the foreground operational state corresponds with the audiovisual player operating in a foreground.
20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the background operational state corresponds with the audiovisual player operating in a background.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
