Systems and methods for wireless control of noninvasive electrotherapy
Abstract
Methods and devices for providing noninvasive electrotherapy and electrical stimulation are described herein. In one aspect, a device for noninvasive electrotherapy includes wireless communication circuitry configured to receive pulse generation control signals wirelessly transmitted from a computing device. The device can include pulse generation circuitry configured to deliver electrical waveforms according to instructions encoded in the pulse generation control signals. The computing device can include a cellular telephone device, a portable media player, a personal digital assistant, a tablet computer, or an internet access device.

a pulse generation circuit configured to generate electrical pulses based on parameters of an electrotherapy program received in a wireless communication from a wireless computing device; a set of electrodes comprising a first electrode and a second electrode in communication with the pulse generation circuit, the set of electrodes configured to attach to the user and to transmit received electrical pulses of the electrotherapy program; a set of lead wires electrically connecting the pulse generation circuit to the set of electrodes; computer executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:
generate, on a display, a user interface for receiving an input of one or more pieces of information of a user,
receive user information on the user interface, the user information including health information of the user,
determine at least one electrotherapy program based on the user information, the at least one electrotherapy program containing parameters to be communicated to the pulse generation circuit,
display the determined at least one electrotherapy program on the user interface, and
in response to a selection of the displayed at least one electrotherapy program, transmit parameters of the selected electrotherapy program to the pulse generation circuit.
2 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising the wireless computing device, wherein the wireless computing device comprises the processor and the user interface.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the wireless computing device includes one or more of a cellular telephone, portable media player, a personal digital assistant, a tablet computer, and an Internet access device.

The system of claim 1 , wherein the set of computer executable instructions, when executed by the processor, further cause the processor to present on the user interface a plurality of controls for a selected electrotherapy program that control the electrical pulses generated by the pulse generation circuit, the plurality of controls including at least pausing the selected electrotherapy program, resuming the selected electrotherapy program, increasing an intensity of the selected electrotherapy program, and decreasing the intensity of the selected electrotherapy program.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the determined at least one electrotherapy program is a plurality of electrotherapy programs.
6 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the plurality of electrotherapy programs are categorized or ranked based on one or more parameters thereof.
7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the parameters are waveform parameters.
8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the waveform parameters comprise amplitude, pulse generation, pulse frequency, or pulse shape.
9 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the plurality of electrotherapy programs differ in at least one of the amplitude, pulse generation, pulse frequency, and pulse shape.
10 . The system of claim 7 , wherein the computer executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the processor to receive on the user interface a user command input and modify at least one waveform parameter as a result of the user command input.
11 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the computer executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the processor to display on the user interface a list of purchasable devices and accessories.
12 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the computer executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the processor to display delivered electrotherapy programs.
13 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the computer executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the processor to display physiological metrics of electrotherapy programs delivered.
14 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the user information includes login information in the form of a username and password.
15 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the user information further comprises user goals.
16 . A method of providing electrical stimulation to a user, the method comprising:
providing an electrical stimulation device, the device comprising a pulse generation circuit configured to generate electrical pulses based on parameters of an electrotherapy program received in a wireless communication from a wireless computing device; a set of electrodes comprising a first electrode and a second electrode in electrical communication with the pulse generation circuit, the set of electrodes configured to attach to the user and to transmit received electrical pulses of the electrotherapy program; a set of lead wires electrically connecting the pulse generation circuit to the set of electrodes; generating, on a display of a wireless computing device, a user interface for receiving an input of one or more pieces of information of a user, receiving user information on the user interface, the user information including health information of the user, determining at least one electrotherapy program based on the user information, the at least one electrotherapy program containing parameters to be communicated to the pulse generation circuit, displaying the determined at least one electrotherapy program on the user interface, and in response to a receiving a selection of a displayed electrotherapy program, wirelessly transmit parameters of the selected electrotherapy program to the pulse generation circuit, and providing, by the pulse generation circuit, electrical pulses to the set of electrodes via the set of lead wires, the electrical pulses based on the wirelessly received parameters of the selected electrotherapy program.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the wireless computing device includes one or more of a cellular telephone, portable media player, a personal digital assistant, a tablet computer, and an Internet access device.
18 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising generating on the user interface a plurality of controls for a selected electrotherapy program that control the electrical pulses generated by the pulse generation circuit.
19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the plurality of controls comprises pausing the selected electrotherapy program and resuming the selected electrotherapy program.
