Abstract

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, embodiments that include accessing a group of user controlled mobile equipment access point names in response to the device detecting a user controlled mobile equipment access point name elementary file (EF_UMEAPN) stored in a memory of a universal integrated circuit card (UICC). An operator stores access point name information and the access point name information comprises the EF_UMEAPN. Further embodiments include configuring the device according to the group of user controlled mobile equipment access point names. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A device comprising:
a processing system including a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising: detecting a user controlled mobile equipment access point name elementary file (EF_UMEAPN) on a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) of a communication device; identifying an access point name (APN) associated with a network that provides a type of service resulting in an identified APN; determining that the EF_UMEAPN does not include the identified APN; updating the EF_UMEAPN to include the identified APN resulting in an updated EF_UMEAPN; and configuring the communication device according to the identified APN selected from the updated EF_UMEAPN.

2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations comprise determining the type of service provided by the communication device.

3 . The device of claim 2 , wherein the identifying of the APN comprises identifying the APN associated with the network that provides the type of service comprises identifying the APN associated with the network that provides the type of service in response to determining the type of service provided by the communication device.

4 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the network comprises a first responder communication network.

5 . The device of claim 4 , wherein the type of service comprises high priority communications.

6 . The device of claim 5 , wherein the operations comprise providing the high priority communications over the first responder communication network utilizing the identified APN.

7 . The device of claim 1 , wherein the network comprises a video content delivery network.

8 . The device of claim 7 , wherein the type of service comprises a filtering video content.

9 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the operations comprise filtering adult programming content on the video content delivery network utilizing the identified APN.

10 . The device of claim 1 , wherein an operator stores access point name information in the memory.

11 . A non-transitory, machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
detecting a user controlled mobile equipment access point name elementary file (EF_UMEAPN) on a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) of a communication device; determining a type of service provided by the communication device; identifying an access point name (APN) associated with a network that provides the type of service resulting in an identified APN; determining that the EF_UMEAPN does not include the identified APN; updating the EF_UMEAPN to include the identified APN resulting in an updated EF_UMEAPN; and configuring the communication device according to the identified APN selected from the updated EF_UMEAPN.

12 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the identifying of the APN comprises identifying the APN associated with the network that provides the type of service comprises identifying the APN associated with the network that provides the type of service in response to determining the type of service provided by the communication device.

13 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the network comprises a first responder communication network.

14 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the type of service comprises high priority communications.

15 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the operations comprise providing high priority communications over the first responder communication network utilizing the identified APN.

16 . The non-transitory, machine-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein an operator stores access point name information in memory.

         17 . A method, comprising:
detecting, by a processing system including a processor, a user controlled mobile equipment access point name elementary file (EF_UMEAPN) on a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) of a communication device; identifying, by the processing system, an access point name (APN) associated with a network that provides a type of service resulting in an identified APN in response to determining, by the processing system, the type of service provided by the communication device; determining, by the processing system, that the EF_UMEAPN does not include the identified APN; updating, by the processing system, the EF_UMEAPN to include the identified APN resulting in an updated EF_UMEAPN; and configuring, by the processing system, the communication device according to the identified APN selected from the updated EF_UMEAPN.

18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the network comprises a video content delivery network.

19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the type of service comprises a filtering video content.

20 . The method of claim 18 , comprising filtering, by the processing system, adult programming content on the video content delivery network utilizing the identified APN.
