Regulation of insulin on board
Abstract
Disclosed herein are techniques related to regulation of insulin on board. In some examples, the techniques may involve obtaining a glucose measurement value generated from a sensing arrangement. The techniques may also involve determining that the glucose measurement value is a valid glucose measurement value. Furthermore, the techniques may involve maintaining a threshold amount of insulin on board (IOB) based on regulating insulin delivery. Maintaining the threshold amount of IOB may be performed responsive to the valid glucose measurement value being less than a threshold glucose value.
Claims

1 . A system comprising:
one or more processors; and one or more processor-readable media storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause performance of:
obtaining a glucose measurement value generated from a sensing arrangement;
determining that the glucose measurement value is a valid glucose measurement value; and
responsive to the valid glucose measurement value being less than a threshold glucose value, maintaining a threshold amount of insulin on board (IOB) based on regulating insulin delivery.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein regulating insulin delivery comprises causing suspension of insulin delivery.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein causing suspension of insulin delivery comprises:
determining that a current amount of IOB is greater than the threshold amount of IOB; and responsive to determining that the current amount of IOB is greater than the threshold amount of IOB, causing suspension of insulin delivery to decrease the current amount to the threshold amount.
4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein regulating insulin delivery further comprises:
determining that a current amount of IOB is less than the threshold amount of IOB; and responsive to determining that the current amount of IOB is less than the threshold amount of IOB, causing delivery of insulin to increase the current amount to the threshold amount.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein regulating insulin delivery comprises:
regulating an insulin delivery rate to a minimum rate for maintaining the threshold amount of IOB.
6 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the insulin delivery rate is a basal infusion rate.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the threshold glucose value corresponds to a threshold value for insulin delivery suspension.
8 . A processor-implemented method comprising:
obtaining a glucose measurement value generated from a sensing arrangement; determining that the glucose measurement value is a valid glucose measurement value; and responsive to the valid glucose measurement value being less than a threshold glucose value, maintaining a threshold amount of insulin on board (IOB) based on regulating insulin delivery.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein regulating insulin delivery comprises causing suspension of insulin delivery.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein causing suspension of insulin delivery comprises:
determining that a current amount of IOB is greater than the threshold amount of IOB; and responsive to determining that the current amount of IOB is greater than the threshold amount of IOB, causing suspension of insulin delivery to decrease the current amount to the threshold amount.
11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein regulating insulin delivery further comprises:
determining that a current amount of IOB is less than the threshold amount of IOB; and responsive to determining that the current amount of IOB is less than the threshold amount of IOB, causing delivery of insulin to increase the current amount to the threshold amount.
12 . The method of claim 8 , wherein regulating insulin delivery comprises:
regulating an insulin delivery rate to a minimum rate for maintaining the threshold amount of IOB.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the insulin delivery rate is a basal infusion rate.
14 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the threshold glucose value corresponds to a threshold value for insulin delivery suspension.
15 . One or more non-transitory processor-readable media storing instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause performance of:
obtaining a glucose measurement value generated from a sensing arrangement; determining that the glucose measurement value is a valid glucose measurement value; and responsive to the valid glucose measurement value being less than a threshold glucose value, maintaining a threshold amount of insulin on board (IOB) based on regulating insulin delivery.
16 . The one or more non-transitory processor-readable media of claim 15 , wherein regulating insulin delivery comprises causing suspension of insulin delivery.
17 . The one or more non-transitory processor-readable media of claim 16 , wherein causing suspension of insulin delivery comprises:
determining that a current amount of IOB is greater than the threshold amount of IOB; and responsive to determining that the current amount of IOB is greater than the threshold amount of IOB, causing suspension of insulin delivery to decrease the current amount to the threshold amount.
18 . The one or more non-transitory processor-readable media of claim 16 , wherein regulating insulin delivery further comprises:
determining that a current amount of IOB is less than the threshold amount of IOB; and responsive to determining that the current amount of IOB is less than the threshold amount of IOB, causing delivery of insulin to increase the current amount to the threshold amount.
