Abstract

The disclosure relates to a method for gain adjustment in mobility measurements of a user equipment (UE). The method includes: selecting a signal stream of a plurality of signal streams received from a plurality of radio cells for mobility measurements; performing a mobility measurement on the selected signal stream based on a given gain; determining a gain update of the selected signal stream based on a received signal strength measurement of the selected signal stream; and if the gain update is outside a predetermined gain range, initiating a recovery of the mobility measurement based on the gain update.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for wireless communication, comprising:
 receiving, at a radio, a plurality of signal streams from a plurality of radio cells for mobility measurements; performing, by one or more processors, a mobility measurement on a selected signal stream of the plurality of signal streams using an initial gain; performing, by the one or more processors, a received signal strength (RSS) measurement on the selected signal stream during the mobility measurement; and initiating a recovery of the mobility measurement using an updated gain different than the initial gain based on the RSS measurement and an RSS window.

         2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the recovery is performed based on whether a result of the RSS measurement falls within the RSS window.

         3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
 performing another mobility measurement on the selected signal stream of the plurality of signal streams using the initial gain, wherein the other mobility measurement precedes the mobility measurement.

         4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the mobility measurement is performed cyclically, and wherein the initial gain is a gain used to perform the mobility measurement during a last cycle.

         5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the mobility measurement is performed within one sub-frame of the selected signal stream.

         6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the selected signal stream comprises at least one reference symbol, and wherein the performing of the RSS measurement is based on the at least one reference symbol.

         7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the RSS measurement is performed after reception of a third or a half sub-frame of the selected signal stream.

         8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the initiating of the recovery comprises discarding a result of the mobility measurement and repeating the mobility measurement.

         9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the initiating of the recovery comprises extending the mobility measurement.

         10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the initiating of the recovery comprises rescheduling the mobility measurement.

         11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a result of the mobility measurement comprises at least one of a neighbor cell measurement, a neighbor cell identification, and a combined neighbor cell identification and measurement.

         12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the performing of the mobility measurement comprises performing an inter-frequency measurement.

         13 . A device for wireless communication, comprising:
 a circuit configured to:
 receive a plurality of signal streams from a plurality of radio cells for mobility measurements;
 perform a mobility measurement on a selected signal stream of the plurality of signal streams using an initial gain;
 perform a received signal strength (RSS) measurement on the selected signal stream during the mobility measurement; and
 initiate a recovery of the mobility measurement using an updated gain different than the initial gain based on the RSS measurement and an RSS window.

         14 . The device of claim 13 , wherein the circuit is configured to perform the mobility measurement within one sub-frame of the selected signal stream.

         15 . The device of claim 13 , wherein the selected signal stream comprises at least one reference symbol, and wherein the circuit is configured to perform the RSS measurement based on the at least one reference symbol.

         16 . The device of claim 13 , wherein the circuit is configured to perform the RSS measurement after reception of a third or a half sub-frame of the selected signal stream.

         17 . A user equipment (UE), comprising:
 a receiver circuit configured to receive a plurality of signal streams from a plurality of radio cells for mobility measurements; and a baseband circuit configured to:
 perform a mobility measurement on a selected signal stream of the plurality of signal streams using an initial gain;
 perform a received signal strength (RSS) measurement on the selected signal stream during the mobility measurement; and
 initiate a recovery of the mobility measurement using an updated gain different than the initial gain based on the RSS measurement and an RSS window.

         18 . The UE of claim 17 , wherein the selected signal stream comprises at least one reference symbol, and wherein the baseband circuit is configured to perform the RSS measurement based on the at least one reference symbol.

         19 . The UE of claim 17 , wherein the baseband circuit is configured to perform the RSS measurement after reception of a third or a half sub-frame of the selected signal stream.

         20 . The UE of claim 17 , wherein the baseband circuit is configured to initiate the recovery of the mobility measurement based on discarding a result of the mobility measurement and repeating the mobility measurement.
