Emergency personal protection system integrated with mobile devices

Abstract

A mobile device includes a camera unit, a location unit, a transmitting unit, a self-defense mechanism, and a panic button. The camera unit location unit obtains at least one of image data and audio data, and the location unit obtains location data. The transmitting unit transmits at least one of the image data, the audio data, the location data, and specific information including owner identification information. The panic button is adapted to activate the camera, the location unit, the transmitting unit, and the self-defense mechanism.

         44 . A mobile device, comprising:
 a camera unit, adapted to obtain at least one of image data and audio data;   a location unit, adapted to obtain location data;   a transmitting unit, adapted to transmit at least one of the image data, the audio data, and the location data as emergency information to a specified location, along with specific information including owner identification information; and   a panic button, adapted to, when activated, ready itself to perform at least one of the following panic button functions: (1) dialing a public or private network for emergency purposes or (2) activating the transmitting unit,   wherein the panic button is activated by a depressing of the panic button together with another button at substantially the same initial time such that no panic button function is activated unless both buttons arc depressed.   
     
     
         45 . A mobile device as set forth in  claim 44 , wherein the specific information includes a time and date stamp. 
     
     
         46 . A mobile device as set forth in  claim 44 , wherein the specific information includes a pre-recorded personal warning message if the panic button is activated during a predetermined time period. 
     
     
         47 . A mobile device as set forth in  claim 44 , wherein the panic button is silent. 
     
     
         48 . A mobile device as set forth in  claim 44 , wherein the panic button activates an audible warning message, wherein the audible warning message includes words. 
     
     
         49 . The mobile device as set forth in  claim 44 , wherein the panic button activates an audible alarm. 
     
     
         50 . A mobile device as set forth in  claim 44 , wherein the owner identification information includes a name and a description of the owner of the mobile device. 
     
     
         51 . A mobile device, comprising:
 a camera for obtaining at least one of image data and audio data;   a location unit for obtaining location data;   a transmitter for transmitting as emergency information at least one of the image data, the audio data, and the location data along with specific information including owner identification information; and   a panic button for activating at least one of the camera, the location unit, and the transmitter, and sending the emergency information and the specific information to a specified location when the panic button is activated,   wherein the panic button is activated by a series of depressings of the panic button.   
     
     
         52 . The mobile device as set forth in  claim 51 , wherein when the panic button is activated a public or private network for emergency purposes is dialed. 
     
     
         53 . The mobile device as set forth in  claim 52 , further comprising a safety switch that, upon being moved into position, readies the panic button to contact the public or private network for emergency purposes when the panic button is activated. 
     
     
         54 . A mobile device as set forth in  claim 51 , wherein the specific information includes a pre-recorded emergency message. 
     
     
         55 . The mobile device of  claim 51 , wherein a number of depressings of the panic button to activate the panic button is three. 
     
     
         56 . A mobile device, comprising:
 a camera unit, adapted to obtain at least one of image data and audio data;   a location unit, adapted to obtain location data;   a transmitting unit, adapted to transmit at least one of the image data, the audio data, and the location data as emergency information to a specified location, along with specific information including owner identification information; and   a panic button, which, when activated, perform at least one of the following panic button functions: (1) activating the transmitting unit to send the emergency information and the specific information to the specified location, or (2) dialing a public or private network for emergency purposes,   wherein the panic button is activated by a series of depressings of the panic button.   
     
     
         57 . The mobile device of  claim 56 , wherein a number of depressings of the panic button to activate the panic button is five. 
     
     
         58 . An emergency safety device, comprising:
 a location unit, adapted to obtain location data;   a transmitting unit, adapted to transmit the location data as emergency information to a specified location via text message, along with specific information including owner identification information; and   a panic button, adapted to activate the transmitting unit when activated,   wherein the panic button is activated by a button sequence.   
     
     
         59 . The mobile device as set forth in  claim 58 , wherein the panic button is activated by a depressing of the panic button for a predetermined time period. 
     
     
         60 . The mobile device as set forth in  claim 58 , wherein the panic button is activated when pressed along with an emergency touchpad picture. 
     
     
         61 . An emergency safety device, comprising:
 a self-defense mechanism comprising at least one of a vial containing pepper spray, a vial containing mace, a vial containing dye, a vial containing a foaming agent, a vial containing a stench ointment, and a stun gun;   wherein activation of the self-defense mechanism also activates a panic button on a mobile device, the mobile device comprising:   a location unit, adapted to obtain location data;   a transmitting unit, adapted to transmit the location data as emergency information to a specified location, along with specific information including owner identification information; and   the panic button adapted to activate the transmitting unit when activated.   
     
     
         62 . A mobile device comprising:
 a controller:   a camera electrically connected to the controller;   a receiver electrically connected to the controller,   a transmitter electrically connected to the controller;   a memory electrically connected to the controller; and,   a panic button electrically connected to the controller;   wherein when the panic button is depressed in a series of depressions the panic button causes the controller to retrieve an identification from the memory, to activate the camera to take a picture, to activate the receiver to obtain a location, and to activate the transmitter to transmit to a specified location the picture from the camera, the location from the receiver, and the identification from the memory.   
     
     
         63 . A method for requesting emergency assistance from a remote location using a mobile device, wherein an identity is associated with the mobile device, the method comprising:
 the mobile device receiving a series of depressions of a button and in response to receiving the series of depressions:
 the mobile device taking at least one picture with a camera; 
 the mobile device identifying its location with a location positioning system; and, 
 the mobile device transmitting the at least one picture, the location, and the identity associated with the mobile device to a predetermined location. 
   
     
     
         64 . A method for requesting emergency assistance from a remote location using a mobile device, wherein an identity is associated with the mobile device, the method comprising:
 the mobile device receiving a series of depressions of a button and in response to receiving the series of depressions:
 the mobile device recording an audio; 
 the mobile device identifying its location with a location positioning system; and, 
 the mobile device transmitting the audio, the location, and the identity associated with the mobile device to the remote location. 
   
     
     
         65 . An emergency safety device, comprising:
 a self-defense mechanism comprising at least one of a vial containing pepper spray, a vial containing mace, a vial containing dye, a vial containing a foaming agent, a vial containing a stench ointment, and a stun gun;   the self-defense mechanism further comprising a panic button electrically connected to a mobile device; wherein activation of the vial containing pepper spray, the vial containing mace, the vial containing dye, the vial containing the foaming agent, the vial containing the stench ointment, or the stun gun activates the panic button;
 the mobile device comprising:
 a receiver which obtains location data; 
 a transmitter, which transmits the location data and owner identification information to a remote location; and 
 wherein when activated, the panic button activates the transmitter.
