Abstract

Two directional data exchange between a mobile navigation system and a listing system enables pricing models and analytics that are responsive to trips initiated in response to location based listings on the navigation system. The data exchange may include information to present the listing to the user, track whether the user elected to begin navigating to the destination based on that listing, intermediate status as the user progresses towards the destination, and an indication that the user arrived at the location. The data may be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the listing in bringing customers to a physical location associated with the listing. The data may be applied in a performance-based pricing model by which pricing for the listing is based in full or in part on the number of trips initiated and/or completed as a result of the listing.

         22 . A database server for enabling prioritized display of a plurality of location markers in a mobile navigation application executing on a client device, the database server comprising a processor and a memory, the memory comprising instructions that configure the database server to:
 access listing-related navigation event data generated previously by a plurality of users employing navigation systems to travel to a plurality of location markers, wherein the listing-related navigation event data comprises stored navigation system data including trip origination data, trip destination data, distance from trip destination at trip origination, indicators of progress in reaching destination, deviations from prescribed routes, mid-trip abandonments of navigation routines, and indications that users reached trip destinations;   for each location marker of the plurality of location markers, determine: a trip success rate footprint for an arrival zone of the location marker based on the listing-related navigation event data, a listing score for the location marker based on the trip success rate footprint for the arrival zone of the location marker, a broadcast radius for the location marker based on the listing-related navigation event data, and determine a display score for the location marker based on the listing score for the location marker and the broadcast radius for the location marker;   receive a search criteria from a client-side interface displayed by the client device executing the mobile navigation application;   generate user interface data defining a dynamic ordering of a location marker set of the plurality of location markers, wherein the dynamic ordering is determined based on the search criteria, a current client device location, and on respective display scores for the plurality of location markers;   receive an indication of user election of a selected location marker of the location marker set of the plurality of location markers;   output a destination address associated with the selected location marker to the client device;   receive trip progress data and a trip completion indication from the client device associated with the selected location marker; and   update the trip success rate footprint for the arrival zone of the selected location marker based on the trip progress data and the trip completion indication.   
     
     
         23 . The database server of  claim 22 , wherein the memory comprising instructions further configure the database server to:
 generate a statistical distribution of trip attributes related to the selected location marker that is cross-tabulated to user attributes.   
     
     
         24 . The database server of  claim 22 , wherein the memory comprising instructions further configure the database server to:
 generate at least one effectiveness advertising metric comprising a number of trips initiated per location marker, a number of trips completed per location marker, a listing-to-trip conversion rate, a trip completion rate, a cost per initiated trip, or a cost per delivered user.   
     
     
         25 . The database server of  claim 22 , wherein the search criteria comprises a category or key word. 
     
     
         26 . The database server of  claim 22 , wherein the memory comprising instructions further configure the database server to:
 graphically output to the client device one or more trip success rate footprints associated with the selected location marker.

The database server of  claim 22 , wherein the stored navigation system data further comprises unique listing identifiers, user demographic information, and hardware system identifiers that are configured to associate stored navigation system data with originating navigation systems. 
     
     
         28 . The database server of  claim 22 , wherein the memory comprising instructions further configure the database server to:
 generate a sponsor-specific report based on analysis of trip success rate footprints data, wherein the sponsor-specific report comprises information associated with location-based advertisement listings or placement of conventional media.   
     
     
         29 . An computer-implemented method for enabling prioritized display of a plurality of location markers in a mobile navigation application executing on a client device, the computer-implemented method comprising:
 accessing listing-related navigation event data generated previously by a plurality of users employing navigation systems to travel to a plurality of location markers, wherein the listing-related navigation event data comprises stored navigation system data including trip origination data, trip destination data, distance from trip destination at trip origination, indicators of progress in reaching destination, deviations from prescribed routes, mid-trip abandonments of navigation routines, and indications that users reached trip destinations;   for each location marker of the plurality of location markers, determining: a trip success rate footprint for an arrival zone of the location marker based on the listing-related navigation event data, a listing score for the location marker based on the trip success rate footprint for the arrival zone of the location marker, a broadcast radius for the location marker based on the listing-related navigation event data, and determine a display score for the location marker based on the listing score for the location marker and the broadcast radius for the location marker;   receiving a search criteria from a client-side interface displayed by the client device executing the mobile navigation application;   generating user interface data defining a dynamic ordering of a location marker set of the plurality of location markers, wherein the dynamic ordering is determined based on the search criteria, a current client device location, and on respective display scores for the plurality of location markers;   receiving an indication of user election of a selected location marker of the location marker set of the plurality of location markers;   outputting a destination address associated with the selected location marker to the client device;   receiving trip progress data and a trip completion indication from the client device associated with the selected location marker; and   updating the trip success rate footprint for the arrival zone of the selected location marker based on the trip progress data and the trip completion indication.   
     
     
         30 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 29 , further comprising:
 generating a statistical distribution of trip attributes related to the selected location marker that is cross-tabulated to user attributes.   
     
     
         31 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 29 , further comprising:
 generate at least one effectiveness advertising metric comprising a number of trips initiated per location marker, a number of trips completed per location marker, a listing-to-trip conversion rate, a trip completion rate, a cost per initiated trip, or a cost per delivered user.   
     
     
         32 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 29 , wherein the search criteria comprises a category or key word. 
     
     
         33 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 29 , further comprising:
 graphically outputting to the client device one or more trip success rate footprints associated with the selected location marker.

The computer-implemented method of  claim 29 , wherein the stored navigation system data further comprises unique listing identifiers, user demographic information, and hardware system identifiers that are configured to associate stored navigation system data with originating navigation systems. 
     
     
         35 . The computer-implemented method of  claim 29 , further comprising:
 generating a sponsor-specific report based on an analysis of trip success rate footprints data, wherein the sponsor-specific report comprises information associated with location-based advertisement listings or placement of conventional media.

A computer program product for enabling prioritized display of a plurality of location markers in a mobile navigation application executing on a client device, the computer program product comprising at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having computer-readable program code portions stored therein, the computer-readable program code portions configured to:
 access listing-related navigation event data generated previously by a plurality of users employing navigation systems to travel to a plurality of location markers, wherein the listing-related navigation event data comprises stored navigation system data including trip origination data, trip destination data, distance from trip destination at trip origination, indicators of progress in reaching destination, deviations from prescribed routes, mid-trip abandonments of navigation routines, and indications that users reached trip destinations;   for each location marker of the plurality of location markers, determine: a trip success rate footprint for an arrival zone of the location marker based on the listing-related navigation event data, a listing score for the location marker based on the trip success rate footprint for the arrival zone of the location marker, a broadcast radius for the location marker based on the listing-related navigation event data, and determine a display score for the location marker based on the listing score for the location marker and the broadcast radius for the location marker;   receive a search criteria from a client-side interface displayed by the client device executing the mobile navigation application;   generate user interface data defining a dynamic ordering of a location marker set of the plurality of location markers, wherein the dynamic ordering is determined based on the search criteria, a current client device location, and on respective display scores for the plurality of location markers;   receive an indication of user election of a selected location marker of the location marker set of the plurality of location markers;   output a destination address associated with the selected location marker to the client device;   receive trip progress data and a trip completion indication from the client device associated with the selected location marker; and   update the trip success rate footprint for the arrival zone of the selected location marker based on the trip progress data and the trip completion indication.   
     
     
         37 . The computer program product of  claim 36 , wherein the computer-readable program code portions are further configured to:
 generate a statistical distribution of trip attributes related to the selected location marker that is cross-tabulated to user attributes.   
     
     
         38 . The computer program product of  claim 36 , wherein the computer-readable program code portions are further configured to:

The computer program product of  claim 36 , wherein the stored navigation system data further comprises unique listing identifiers, user demographic information, and hardware system identifiers that are configured to associate stored navigation system data with originating navigation systems.
