Claims

Abstract

Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. A golf club head includes a means for defining an interior cavity including a first material having a first density. The golf club head also includes a first means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for defining the interior cavity, a second means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for defining the interior cavity, and a third means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for defining the interior cavity. The first, second, and third means include a second material having a second density greater than the first density. A portion of the first, second, and third means define visible portions of a back wall portion of the means for defining an interior cavity. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A golf club head comprising:
 a means for defining an interior cavity, the means for defining the interior cavity including a first material having a first density, a toe portion with a toe portion edge, a heel portion with a heel portion edge and a means for receiving a shaft, a front portion, a back portion with a back wall portion, a top portion with a top portion edge, and a sole portion with a sole portion edge;   a first means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for defining the interior cavity, a distance from the first means to the sole portion edge being less than a distance from the first means to the top portion edge, and a distance from the first means to the toe portion edge being less than a distance from the first means to the heel portion edge;   a second means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for defining the interior cavity, a distance from the second means to the sole portion edge being less than a distance from the second means to the top portion edge, and a distance from the second means to the heel portion edge being less than a distance from the second means to the toe portion edge; and   a third means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for defining the interior cavity, a distance from the third means to the top portion edge being less than a distance from the third means to the sole portion edge, and a distance from the third means to the toe portion edge being less than a distance from the third means to the heel portion edge,   wherein the first means, the second means, and the third means comprise a second material having a second density greater than the first density, and   wherein a portion of the first means, a portion of the second means, and a portion of the third means define visible portions of the back wall portion.   
     
     
         2 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 1 , wherein the third means comprises means for balancing a mass of the means for receiving a shaft. 
     
     
         3 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 1 , wherein the first means, the second means, and the third means are interchangeable. 
     
     
         4 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 1 , wherein the first means, the second means, and the third means are removable. 
     
     
         5 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 1  further comprising means for closing the interior cavity at the front portion. 
     
     
         6 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 1  further comprising means for dampening vibrations of the means for defining the interior cavity, the means for dampening vibrations located in the interior cavity. 
     
     
         7 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 1  further comprising means for closing the interior cavity at the front portion and means for dampening vibrations of the means for defining the interior cavity, wherein the means for dampening vibrations is coupled to means for closing the interior cavity at the front portion. 
     
     
         8 . A golf club head comprising:
 a means for forming an interior cavity, the means for forming the interior cavity having a toe portion with a toe portion edge, a heel portion with a heel portion edge and a means for receiving a shaft, a front portion, a back portion with a back wall portion, a top portion with a top portion edge, and a sole portion with a sole portion edge;   means for closing interior cavity at the front portion;   means for dampening vibrations of the means for forming the interior cavity, the means for dampening vibrations of the means for forming the interior cavity being located in the interior cavity and coupled to the means for closing the interior cavity;   a first means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for forming the interior cavity, a distance from the first means to the sole portion edge being less than a distance from the first means to the top portion edge, and a distance from the first means to the toe portion edge being less than a distance from the first means to the heel portion edge;   a second means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for forming the interior cavity, a distance from the second means to the sole portion edge being less than a distance from the first means to the sole portion edge, a distance from the second means to the toe portion edge being less than a distance from the second means to the heel portion edge, and a distance from the second means to the toe portion edge being greater than a distance from the first means to the toe portion edge; and   a third means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for forming the interior cavity, a distance from the third means to the sole portion edge being less than a distance from the second means to the sole portion edge, a distance from the third means to the toe portion edge being less than a distance from the third means to the heel portion edge, and a distance from the third means to the toe portion edge being greater than a distance from the second means to the toe portion edge,   wherein a portion of the first means, a portion of the second means, and a portion of the third means define visible portions of the back wall portion.   
     
     
         9 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 8  further comprising a fourth means for balancing a mass of the means for receiving the shaft, wherein a distance from the fourth means to the top portion edge is less than a distance from the fourth means to the sole portion edge, and wherein a distance from the fourth means to the toe portion edge is less than a distance from the fourth means to the heel portion edge. 
     
     
         10 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 8 , further comprising a fourth means for balancing a mass of the means for receiving the shaft, wherein a distance from the fourth means to the top portion edge is less than a distance from the fourth means to the sole portion edge, wherein a distance from the fourth means to the toe portion edge is less than a distance from the fourth means to the heel portion edge, and wherein one of the first means, the second means, or the third means has at least one physical characteristic that is different from a same physical characteristic of the fourth means. 
     
     
         11 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 8 , wherein the means for dampening vibrations of the means for forming the interior cavity further comprise means for adhering to the means for closing the interior cavity. 
     
     
         12 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 8 , wherein the first means, the second means, and the third means comprise a material having a greater density than a material of the means for forming the interior cavity. 
     
     
         13 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 8  further comprising a fourth means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for forming the interior cavity, a distance from the fourth means to the sole portion edge being less than a distance from the first means to the top portion edge, and a distance from the first means to the toe portion edge being greater than a distance from the first means to the heel portion edge. 
     
     
         14 . A golf club head comprising:
 a means for providing an interior cavity, the means for providing the interior cavity having a toe portion with a toe portion edge, a heel portion with a heel portion edge and a means for receiving a shaft, a front portion, a back portion with a back wall portion, a top portion with a top portion edge, and a sole portion with a sole portion edge;   a means for engaging a golf ball coupled to the front portion to enclose the interior cavity;   a plurality of first means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity, a distance from each of the first means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity to the sole portion edge being less than a distance from each of the first means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity to the top portion edge;   a plurality of second means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity, a distance from each of the second means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity to the sole portion edge being greater than a distance from each of the second means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity to the top portion edge, and a distance from each of the second means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity to the toe portion edge being less than a distance from each of the second means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity to the heel portion edge; and   a first means for injecting a polymer material into the interior cavity, a location on the means for providing the interior cavity of the first means for injecting a polymer material into the interior cavity coinciding with a location on the means for providing the interior cavity of one of the first means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity; and   a second means for injecting a polymer material into the interior cavity, a location on the means for providing the interior cavity of the second means for injecting a polymer material into the interior cavity coinciding with a location on the means for providing the interior cavity of one of the second means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity,   wherein at least one of the second means for increasing a moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity comprises a means for balancing a mass of the means for receiving the shaft.   
     
     
         15 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 14 , wherein at least one of the first means for increasing the moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity is interchangeable with at least one of the second means for increasing the moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity. 
     
     
         16 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 14 , wherein any one of the first means for increasing the moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity is removable. 
     
     
         17 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 14 , wherein the plurality of first means for increasing the moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity are located on the back wall portion proximate to the sole portion edge in an equally or a substantially equally spaced apart configuration. 
     
     
         18 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 14 , wherein the plurality of first means for increasing the moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity and the plurality of second means for increasing the moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity define a portion of the back wall portion such that the plurality of first means for increasing the moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity and the plurality of second means for increasing the moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity are visible to an individual viewing the means for providing the interior cavity. 
     
     
         19 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 14 , wherein at least one of the first means for increasing the moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity and at least one of the second means for increasing the moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity have at least one different physical property. 
     
     
         20 . A golf club head as defined in  claim 14 , wherein the plurality of first means for increasing the moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity and the plurality of second means for increasing the moment of inertia of the means for providing the interior cavity comprise a material having a greater density than a density of a material of the means for providing the interior cavity.
