System and Method to Create Listings Using Image and Voice Recognition

Abstract

In various example embodiments, a system and method to provide services associated with an image is disclosed. The method includes receiving image data of an item of interest from a client device. The image data is used to identify a similar item from an image catalog based on the image data of the item. Attribute information associated with the similar item is retrieved and used to pre-populate a template. The pre-populated template is sent to the client device, and modified data from the client device is received in response, with the modified data resulting in a final template. A listing based on the final template is generated.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method comprising:
 receiving image data of an item from a client device;   identifying an image depicting a similar item using the image data of the item;   retrieving item attribute information associated with the similar item;   populating a listing template with the item attribute information associated with the similar item; and   generating a listing using the listing template populated with the item attribute information.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising publishing the listing to a network-based publication system. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the image data is captured by an image capture device of the client device. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the image data is included in one or more listings received from the client device. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the image data includes a verbal description of the item. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising recognizing the item by performing image recognition processing on the image data, wherein identifying the image depicting the similar item is performed based on the recognized item. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the image data is received in response to user input at the client device selecting one or more images from an item inventory displayed on a graphical user interface of the client device. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising receiving modification data from the client device that modifies at least a portion of the item attribute information and modifying the listing based on the modification data. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising receiving modification data from the client device that specifies additional item attribute information not included in the listing template populated with the item attribute information and modifying the listing based on the modification data. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising receiving a verbal description of the item obtained by a microphone of the client device, generating text from the verbal description of the item, and modifying the listing with the text generated from the verbal description of the item. 
     
     
         11 . A system comprising:
 one or more processors; and   a computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that are executable by the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:   receiving image data of an item from a client device;   identifying an image depicting a similar item using the image data of the item;   retrieving item attribute information associated with the similar item;   populating a listing template with the item attribute information associated with the similar item; and   generating a listing using the listing template populated with the item attribute information.   
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 11 , the operations further comprising recognizing the item by performing image recognition processing on the image data, wherein identifying the image depicting the similar item is performed based on the recognized item. 
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 11 , the operations further comprising receiving modification data from the client device that modifies at least a portion of the item attribute information and modifying the listing based on the modification data. 
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 11 , the operations further comprising receiving modification data from the client device that specifies additional item attribute information not included in the listing template populated with the item attribute information and modifying the listing based on the modification data. 
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 11 , the operations further comprising receiving a verbal description of the item obtained by a microphone of the client device, generating text from the verbal description of the item, and modifying the listing with the text generated from the verbal description of the item. 
     
     
         16 . The system of  claim 11 , the operations further comprising publishing the listing to a network-based publication system. 
     
     
         17 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the image data is captured by an image capture device of the client device. 
     
     
         18 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the image data includes a verbal description of the item. 
     
     
         19 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the image data is received in response to user input at the client device selecting one or more images from an item inventory displayed on a graphical user interface of the client device. 
     
     
         20 . A method comprising:
 transmitting image data of an item to a server device;   causing the server device to identify an image depicting a similar item using the image data of the item;   causing the server device to retrieve item attribute information associated with the similar item;   causing the server device to populate a listing template with the item attribute information associated with the similar item; and   causing the server device to generate a listing using the listing template populated with the item attribute information.
