Systems and methods to facilitate infrastructure installation checks and corrections in a distributed environment

Abstract

Methods and apparatus to facilitate infrastructure installation checks and corrections in a distributed environment are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a virtual appliance including a management endpoint. The example apparatus includes a component server including a management agent to communicate with the management endpoint. The virtual appliance is to assign a role to the component server and to determine a subset of prerequisites associated with the role based on an applicability to the role. Each of the subset of prerequisites is associated with an error correction script. The component server is to determine whether the component server satisfies the subset of prerequisites associated with the role. The component server is to address an error when the component server is determined not to satisfy at least one of the subset of prerequisites by executing the error correction script associated with the at least one of the subset of prerequisites.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An apparatus comprising:
 memory;   instructions in the apparatus; and   processor circuitry to execute the instructions to:
 process a subset of prerequisites with respect to a configuration, the subset of prerequisites selected from a plurality of prerequisites based on a role assigned to the configuration; 
 when the processing results in an error, identify a fix script to address the error; and 
 trigger evaluation and correction of the error based on the role, the subset of prerequisites, and the fix script. 
   
     
     
         2 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is to process the subset of prerequisites with respect to the configuration by executing a prerequisite script. 
     
     
         3 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the configuration is associated with the apparatus. 
     
     
         4 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the fix script is to adjust the configuration. 
     
     
         5 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is to trigger a check of at least one of the subset of prerequisites after execution of the fix script to confirm whether the error has been resolved. 
     
     
         6 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the apparatus includes a component server. 
     
     
         7 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is to complete an installation after correction of the error. 
     
     
         8 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is to validate the configuration after correction of the error. 
     
     
         9 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the processor circuitry is to build a list of roles and associated rules and review the list of roles and execute the associated rules for each role in the list of roles to determine compliance with the subset of prerequisites for the list of roles. 
     
     
         10 . A tangible computer readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed, cause a processor to at least:
 process a subset of prerequisites with respect to a configuration, the subset of prerequisites selected from a plurality of prerequisites based on a role assigned to the configuration;   when the processing results in an error, identify a fix script to address the error; and   trigger evaluation and correction of the error based on the role, the subset of prerequisites, and the fix script.   
     
     
         11 . The computer readable storage medium of  claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor to process the subset of prerequisites with respect to the configuration by executing a prerequisite script. 
     
     
         12 . The computer readable storage medium of  claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor to trigger a check of at least one of the subset of prerequisites after execution of the fix script to confirm whether the error has been resolved. 
     
     
         13 . The computer readable storage medium of  claim 10 , wherein the instructions when executed, cause the processor to complete an installation after correction of the error. 
     
     
         14 . The computer readable storage medium of  claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor to validate the configuration after correction of the error. 
     
     
         15 . The computer readable storage medium of  claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor to build a list of roles and associated rules and review the list of roles and execute the associated rules for each role in the list of roles to determine compliance with the subset of prerequisites for the list of roles. 
     
     
         16 . A method comprising:
 processing, by executing an instruction using a processor, a subset of prerequisites with respect to a configuration, the subset of prerequisites selected from a plurality of prerequisites based on a role assigned to the configuration;   when the processing results in an error, identifying, by executing an instruction using the processor, a fix script to address the error; and   triggering, by executing an instruction using the processor, evaluation and correction of the error based on the role, the subset of prerequisites, and the fix script.   
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein processing the subset of prerequisites with respect to the configuration includes processing the subset of prerequisites with respect to the configuration by executing a prerequisite script. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 16 , further including triggering a check of at least one of the subset of prerequisites after execution of the fix script to confirm whether the error has been resolved. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 16 , further including completing an installation after correction of the error. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 16 , further including validating the configuration after correction of the error.
