Systems and methods for presenting security questions via connected security system
Abstract
The various implementations described herein include methods, devices and systems for detecting trigger events and executing security protocols. In one aspect, a method is performed at a server system that is coupled to a smart device system and a client device, the smart device system located at a premises. The server system: (1) detects an unverified user within the premises based on data collected by the smart device system, wherein the data is communicated to the server system via the wide area networks; (2) provides a notification regarding the unverified user to authorized users via the wide area networks; (3) receives, from a first authorized user, a first user input in response to the notification; and (4) in response to receiving the first user input, executes a security operation at the premises based on the first user input.

in response to detection of a trigger event associated with a security device system located at a premises, providing a notification regarding the trigger event associated with the security device system to a client device for display on a user interface of an application executed on the client device;
receiving a first user input in response to the notification, the first input indicating a selection of a first security operation from among a first plurality of security operations for execution by the security device system;
in response to receiving the first user input, executing the first security operation;
presenting, on the user interface, an indication of a response to the first security operation received by the security device system;
receiving a second user input in response to the indication of the response, the second user input indicating a selection of a second security operation from among a second plurality of security operations for execution by the security device system; and
in response to receiving the second user input, executing the second security operation.
22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein at least one of the second plurality of security operations comprises playing a predefined audible security message within the premises.
23 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the first plurality of security operations comprises presenting a security question via an interface of the security device system.
24 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the security device system comprises one or more devices selected from a group consisting of:
a surveillance device configured to collect data used for detecting the trigger event; a speaker configured to present a predefined audible security message corresponding to a selected one of a plurality of security messages; and a microphone configured to collect a response to the predefined system-generated audible security message.
25 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the security device system comprises the speaker, and first security operation comprises playing the selected predefined audible security message.
26 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the trigger event comprises detection of a person.
27 . The method of claim 26 , wherein providing the notification regarding the trigger event comprises providing a time of detection of the person and/or a corresponding location of the detected person within the premises.
28 . The method of claim 27 , wherein the person is detected according to a predetermined sensitivity that excludes a region of the premises from detection or specifies a range of time for detection.
29 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the trigger event comprises an activation of the security device system.
30 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the security device system includes a network-connected doorbell device.
31 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the client device is associated with an authorized user of the security device system.
32 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the second security operation comprises one or more actions selected from a group consisting of: alerting a call center; alerting a law enforcement agency; alerting an emergency service provider; contacting a third party; sounding an alarm; and activating a device communicatively coupled to the security device system.
33 . The method of claim 21 , wherein the first security operation comprises displaying a video feed or photo of a portion of the premises on the client device.
34 . A system comprising:
a server system having one or more processors and memory storing instructions for execution by the one or more processors, the instructions causing the one or more processors to: in response to detection of a trigger event associated with a security device system located at a premises, provide a notification regarding the trigger event associated with the security device system to a client device for display on a user interface of an application executed on the client device; receive a first user input in response to the notification, the first input indicating a selection of a first security operation from among a first plurality of security operations for execution by the security device system; in response to receiving the first user input, execute the first security operation; present, on the user interface, an indication of a response to the first security operation received by the security device system; receive a second user input in response to the indication of the response, the second user input indicating a selection of a second security operation from among a second plurality of security operations for execution by the security device system; and in response to receiving the second user input, execute the second security operation.
35 . The system of claim 34 , wherein at least one of the second plurality of security operations comprises playing a predefined audible security message within the premises.
36 . The system of claim 34 , wherein the first plurality of security operations comprises presentation of a security question via an interface of the security device system.
37 . The system of claim 34 , wherein the security device system comprises one or more devices selected from a group consisting of:
a surveillance device configured to collect data used for detecting the trigger event; a speaker configured to present a predefined audible security message corresponding to a selected one of a plurality of security messages; and a microphone configured to collect a response to the predefined system-generated audible security message.
38 . The system of claim 34 , wherein the security device system comprises the speaker, and first security operation comprises playing the selected predefined audible security message.
39 . The system of claim 34 , wherein the trigger event comprises detection of a person.
40 . The system of claim 39 , wherein providing the notification regarding the trigger event comprises providing a time of detection of the person and/or a corresponding location of the detected person within the premises.
41 . The system of claim 40 , wherein the person is detected according to a predetermined sensitivity that excludes a region of the premises from detection or specifies a range of time for detection.
42 . The system of claim 34 , wherein the trigger event comprises an activation of the security device system.
43 . The system of claim 34 , wherein the security device system includes a network-connected doorbell device.
44 . The system of claim 34 , wherein the client device is associated with an authorized user of the security device system.
45 . The system of claim 34 , wherein the second security operation comprises one or more actions selected from a group consisting of: alerting a call center; alerting a law enforcement agency; alerting an emergency service provider; contacting a third party; sounding an alarm; and activating a device communicatively coupled to the security device system.
46 . The system of claim 34 , wherein the first security operation comprises displaying a video feed or photo of a portion of the premises on the client device.
47 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a plurality of instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
in response to detection of a trigger event associated with a security device system located at a premises, provide a notification regarding the trigger event associated with the security device system to a client device for display on a user interface of an application executed on the client device; receive a first user input in response to the notification, the first input indicating a selection of a first security operation from among a first plurality of security operations for execution by the security device system; in response to receiving the first user input, execute the first security operation; present, on the user interface, an indication of a response to the first security operation received by the security device system; receive a second user input in response to the indication of the response, the second user input indicating a selection of a second security operation from among a second plurality of security operations for execution by the security device system; and
