Claims

Abstract

New articles of outerwear with measuring indicia enable both the wearer and others to make instrument-free measurements. The outer surface of the outerwear has measuring indicia in one or more location, and can measure angles in degrees and lengths in metric units or American Standard units. Every article has at least two or more measuring indicia, such as protractors, metric rulers, American Standard rulers, rulers in the shape of a bar chart, T-shaped rulers, X-shaped rulers, and bands of fixed lengths. Every article of outerwear also has a system of making instrument-free measurements of angles and lengths by making use of two or more measuring indicia positioned in different parts of the outerwear. Each indicia can operate independently or in combination with other indicia to measure greater lengths. This is achieved by moving parts of the body such that some of the indicia become aligned with one another.

1 . An article of outerwear configured to allow both the wearer of the outerwear and others to make instrument-free measurements, said article of outerwear comprising:
 an inner surface configured to receive a part of a human body;   an outer surface having a plurality of indicia, said indicia positioned in one or more location in said outerwear, said each location having one or more of said plurality of indicia, each of said indicia being configured to measure one or more types of measurements selected from a group consisting of angles in degrees, lengths in metric units, lengths in American Standard units; and   two or more of said indicia being selected from a group consisting of protractors, rulers in the shape of a bar chart, T-shaped rulers, and X-shaped rulers.   
     
     
         2 . The article of outerwear according to  claim 1 , wherein two or more of select indicia from said plurality of indicia are configured to operate independently or in combination with each other such that a user may measure greater lengths than found on one said indicia by aligning said select indicia by moving their body part to an aligning position.

The article of outerwear according to  claim 1 , wherein two or more of select indicia from select plurality of indicia are configured to operate independently or when in an aligned position in combination with each other, are configured to align with each other such that the user may measure a relative angle between the body parts than found on a single indicia by aligning said select indicia by moving their body part to an aligning position. 
     
     
         4 . The article of outerwear according to  claim 1 , wherein said article of outerwear is selected from a group consisting of shirts, jackets, vests, sweatshirts, lab coats, gloves, hats, pants, and shoes. 
     
     
         5 . An article of outerwear configured to allow both the wearer of the outerwear and others to make instrument-free measurements, said article of outerwear comprising:
 a torso section;   a left sleeve;   a right sleeve;   said torso section and said left and right sleeves form an inner surface and an outer surface;   said inner surface configured to receive a part of a human body; and   said outer surface having a plurality of indicia for instrument-free measuring, said plurality of indicia includes a protractor indicia located in said torso section, said protractor indicia defined by a zero edge and a center mark along said zero edge and one or more angular lines, an extended centerline of each angular line intersects with the center mark, said left sleeve and said right sleeve configured to be independently extended in a linear direction such as to define a longitudinal axis of said sleeve, whereby said longitudinal axis of the sleeve generally intersects with said center mark of said protractor indicia, whereby an angular measurement is defined between said longitudinal axis of said extended sleeve and said zero edge.

The article of outerwear according to  claim 5 , wherein said protractor indicia is located at an upper portion of said torso section, and said left sleeve and said right sleeve each include indicia, and wherein with said sleeves extending in a linear direction, said indicia form a linear ruler.

         10 . A pair of gloves configured to allow the wearer of said gloves to make instrument-free measurements, said gloves comprising:
 an inner surface configures to receive a hand of a user;   an outer surface having a plurality of indicia, said indicia positioned in one or more location in said outerwear, said each location having one or more of said plurality of indicia, each of said indicia being configured to measure one or more types of measurements selected from a group consisting of angles in degrees, lengths in metric units, lengths in American Standard units; and   two or more of said indicia being selected from a group consisting of protractors, rulers configured to measure metric units, rulers configured to measure in American Standard units, rulers in the shape of a bar chart, T-shaped rulers, X-shaped rulers, and bands of fixed lengths.   
     
     
         11 . The pair of gloves according to  claim 10 , wherein said outer surface having a plurality of indicia for instrument-free measuring, said plurality of indicia includes a protractor indicia located between a thumb and an index finger of a user, said protractor indicia defined by a zero edge and a center mark defined at a joining of the thumb and the index finger along said zero edge and one or more angular lines, an extended centerline of each angular line intersects with the center mark, said thumb and said index finger may be independently extended in a linear direction such as to define a longitudinal axis, whereby said longitudinal axis generally intersects with said center mark of said protractor indicia, whereby an angular measurement is defined between said longitudinal axis and said extended centerline. 
     
     
         12 . A headgear configured to allow the wearer of said headgear to make instrument-free measurements, said headgear comprising:
 an inner surface configured to receive a head of a user;   an outer surface having a plurality of indicia, said indicia positioned in one or more location in said headgear, said each location having one or more of said plurality of indicia, each of said indicia being configured to measure one or more types of measurements selected from a group consisting of angles in degrees, lengths in metric units, lengths in American Standard units; and   two or more of said indicia being selected from a group consisting of protractors, rulers configured to measure metric units, rulers configured to measure in American Standard units, rulers in the shape of a bar chart, T-shaped rulers, X-shaped rulers, and bands of fixed lengths.   
     
     
         13 . A system of making instrument-free measurements with measuring indicia in one or more articles of outerwear configured to allow both the wearer of the outerwear and others to make instrument-free measurements, said system of making instrument-free measurements comprising:
 two or more of said indicia being positioned in different parts of said outerwear, said indicia being selected from a group consisting of protractors, rulers in the shape of a bar chart, T-shaped rulers, and X-shaped rulers;   said indicia being configured to operate independently or in combination with each other such that a user may measure greater lengths than found on one said indicia by aligning said select indicia by moving their body part to an aligning position;   said indicia being configured to operate independently or when in an aligned position in combination with each other such that the user may measure a relative angle between the body parts by moving their body part to an aligning position; and   each of said indicia being configured to measure one or more types of measurements selected from a group consisting of angles in degrees, lengths in metric units, lengths in American Standard units.
