Abstract
Disclosed are compositions and methods for their use that can be used in cosmetic applications. The composition can include an effective amount of a Centella asiatica stem cells to reduce the activity of hyaluronidase in skin, an effective amount of tetradecyl aminobutyroylvalylamino butyric urea trifluoroacetate or Alpinia galanga leaf extract to promote the production of hyaluronic acid in skin, an effective amount of tripeptide-1 to promote the production of fibronectin and laminin in skin, and a dermatologically acceptable vehicle.

1 . A method for treating skin comprising topically applying a composition to skin in need of treatment, the composition comprising:
(a) an effective amount of a Centella asiatica meristem cell culture to reduce the activity of hyaluronidase in skin; (b) an effective amount of Alpinia galanga leaf extract to promote the production of hyaluronic acid in skin; (c) an effective amount of tripeptide-1 to promote the production of fibronectin and laminin in skin; and (d) a dermatologically acceptable vehicle;
wherein topical application of the composition reduces the activity of hyaluronidase in skin, increases the production of hyaluronic acid in skin, and increases the production of fibronectin and laminin in skin.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition includes 0.01 to 1% by weight of Centella asiatica stem cells, 0.01 to 1% by weight of Alpinia galanga leaf extract, and 0.01 to 1% by weight of tripeptide-1.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises one one or more additional ingredients selected from one or more moisturizing agents, antioxidants, fragrances, skin conditioning agents, structuring agents, exfoliating agents, humectants, viscosity controlling agents, and preservatives.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition is formulated as an emulsion, a cream, a gel, a lotion, a serum, a mask, a balm, or an ointment.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition is applied to a fine line or wrinkle.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition is applied to sagging skin or non-elastic skin.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition is applied to the periorbital region of skin.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition is applied to facial skin or neck skin.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein after topical application the composition remains on the skin for at least 30 minutes.
10 . A topical skin composition comprising:
(a) an effective amount of a Centella asiatica meristem cell culture to reduce the activity of hyaluronidase in skin; (b) an effective amount of Alpinia galanga leaf extract to promote the production of hyaluronic acid in skin; (c) an effective amount of tripeptide-1 to promote the production of fibronectin and laminin in skin; and (d) a dermatologically acceptable vehicle.
11 . The composition of claim 10 , wherein the composition includes 0.01 to 1% by weight of Centella asiatica stem cells, 0.01 to 1% by weight of Alpinia galanga leaf extract, and 0.01 to 1% by weight of tripeptide-1.
12 . The composition of claim 10 , wherein the composition comprises one one or more additional ingredients selected from one or more moisturizing agents, antioxidants, fragrances, skin conditioning agents, structuring agents, exfoliating agents, humectants, viscosity controlling agents, and preservatives.
