Concrete form and related method of creating a cantilever reveal
Abstract
The present specification relates generally to concrete formwork, and specifically to a concrete form for the creation of a cantilever reveal in concrete stairs comprising a riser piece, a cove piece and a reveal piece. The cove piece includes a distal end and a proximate end, the proximate end positioned on a bottom end of the riser piece at a perpendicular angle to the riser piece and the reveal piece is positioned on the distal end of the cove piece projecting at a perpendicular angle to the cove piece, such that the reveal piece and the riser piece are parallel to one another. Also disclosed is use of one or more concrete forms to construct a cantilever reveal and a method of constructing a set of concrete stairs.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A concrete form, comprising:
a riser piece, including a top end and a bottom end; a cove piece, the cove piece including a distal end and a proximate end, the proximate end positioned on the bottom end of the riser piece at a perpendicular angle to the riser piece; and a reveal piece, the reveal piece positioned on the distal end of the cove piece projecting at a perpendicular angle to the cove piece, such that the reveal piece and the riser piece are parallel to one another.
2 . The concrete form of claim 1 , wherein the riser piece is rectangular.
3 . The concrete form of claim 1 , wherein the riser piece is made of wood.
4 . The concrete form of claim 1 , wherein the cove piece and the reveal piece are constructed from a single piece of material.
5 . The concrete form of claim 1 , wherein the cove piece and the reveal piece are made of metal.
6 . Use of one or more of the concrete forms of claim 1 to construct a set of concrete stairs with a cantilever reveal.
7 . A method of constructing a set of concrete stairs, the method comprising:
constructing at least one concrete form, the at least one concrete form comprising,
a riser piece, including a top end and a bottom end;
a cove piece, the cove piece including a distal end and a proximate end, the proximate end positioned on the bottom end of the riser piece at a perpendicular angle to the riser piece; and
a reveal piece, the reveal piece positioned on the distal end of the cove piece projecting at a perpendicular angle to the cove piece, such that the reveal piece and the riser piece are parallel to one another;
affixing the at least one concrete form to at least one stringer; and pouring concrete within boundaries of the at least one concrete form and the at least one stringer.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the at least one concrete form and the at least one stringer are two concrete forms and two stringers, whereby each of the two concrete forms are affixed to one of the two stringers at one side and to the concrete form on its other side, thereby creating at least one concrete stair with two cantilever reveals.
9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the at least one concrete form and the at least one stringer are three concrete forms and two stringers, whereby two of the concrete forms are affixed to one stringer at one side and to a third concrete form on its other side, thereby creating at least one concrete stair with three cantilever reveals.
10 . The method of claim 7 , the method further comprising determining rise and run measurements of the set of concrete stairs and constructing the at least one concrete form based on the rise and run measurements.
11 . The method of claim 7 , the method further comprising laying out footings and a rebar grid to provide structural support to the set of concrete stairs.
12 . The method of claim 7 , the method further comprising affixing at least one brace to the at least one concrete form along a pitch of the set of concrete steps to support a weight of poured concrete.
13 . The method of claim 7 , the method further comprising coating the concrete form with a release agent.
14 . The method of claim 7 , the method further comprising allowing the concrete to set and removing the concrete form.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
