Abstract

A system and method that acquire (i) at least a reference image including one of a preoperative image of a surgical site with skeletal and articulating bones and a contralateral image on an opposite side of the patient from the surgical site, and (ii) at least an intraoperative image of the site after an implant has been affixed to the articulating bone. The system preferably generates at least one reference stationary point on at least the skeletal bone in the reference image and at least one intraoperative stationary point on at least the skeletal bone in the intraoperative image. The location of the implant is identified in the intraoperative image, preferably including the position of first and second centers of rotation, which are digitally represented and copied into the reference image to analyze at least one of offset and length differential.

. The method of claim 4 , wherein the selection menu is displayed in the form of a chart and interactively displaying the one or more first corresponding femoral prosthetics in response to the selected leg length comprises highlighting the one or more first corresponding femoral prosthetics associated with the selected leg length in the chart.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the selected the leg length comprises receiving user input indicating the selected leg length from the GUI.

. The method of claim 7 , wherein interactively displaying the one or more first corresponding femoral prosthetics in response to the selected leg length comprises recommending at least one corresponding optimal fit femoral prosthetic, wherein the at least one corresponding optimal fit femoral prosthetic is selected from the one or more first corresponding femoral prosthetics.

. The method of claim 7 , wherein the user input indicating the selected leg length is provided using a slider control provided by the GUI.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein each femoral prosthetic in the set of femoral prosthetics comprises a corresponding femoral stem, and the GUI comprises a linear indication of at least one corresponding femoral stem parameter.

. The method of claim 10 , wherein the at least one corresponding femoral stem parameter comprises a corresponding femoral stem size.

. The method of claim 11 , wherein the selected femoral prosthetic comprises a corresponding femoral stem size selection, wherein the corresponding femoral stem size selection is made using the linear indication, and wherein the interactive display of the first corresponding leg length and offset pair occurs in response to the corresponding femoral stem size selection.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein interactively displaying the first corresponding leg length and offset pair in response to the selected femoral prosthetic comprises displaying changes to a second corresponding leg length and offset pair relative to the first corresponding leg length and offset pair, wherein the second corresponding leg length and offset pair is associated with a previously selected femoral prosthetic.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein for each distinct femoral prosthetic in the set of femoral prosthetics, a corresponding leg length and offset pair is determined based on a corresponding first reference point associated with a corresponding femoral prosthetic template and a second reference point on a femur of the patient in a preoperative surgical image.

. A system comprising:
