Personal Protective Gown
Abstract
A compact, clean, and convenient personal protective gown is disclosed which protect a user from unhygienic environments. The disclosed gown is designed to protect users while using the lavatory or in other similar situations where the user may have to sit for a period of time. The gown may protect users in other environments where the seating may be less sanitary. For example, while sitting in a theater, office, an airplane or other method of public transit. The gown also protects the user while assisting others in contaminated spaces such as when helping a child or elderly individual to use the restroom. The gown includes features that improve its ability to protect users in addition to acting as a protective barrier.

1 . A personal protective gown comprising:
a gown, made of an impermeable material, configured to accommodate a user; the gown includes multiple openings for the user's body including arm openings, leg openings, and a waist opening; and the gown includes an excreta opening configured to align with the user's buttocks and urethra.
2 . The personal protective gown of claim 1 , wherein the gown includes a head opening configured to accommodate the user's head, wherein the head opening is integrated into the waist opening.
3 . The personal protective gown of claim 2 , wherein the arm openings, leg openings, head opening, waist opening and excreta opening are lined with a reinforced seam.
4 . The personal protective gown of claim 1 , wherein the waist opening is configured to remain open from a user's neck to just below their waist.
5 . The personal protective gown of claim 1 , wherein the impermeable material is a material with antimicrobial properties.
6 . The personal protective gown of claim 1 , wherein the impermeable material is a material with biodegradable properties.
7 . The personal protective gown of claim 3 , wherein the seams of the arm openings, leg openings, head opening, and waist opening include an elastic or adjusting mechanism configured to form a seal between the arm openings and the user's arm, the leg openings and the user's legs, the head opening and the user's neck and the waist opening and the user's upper and lower body.
8 . The personal protective gown of claim 7 , wherein the elastic is latex, silicone, natural rubber or a synthetic rubber.
9 . The personal protective gown of claim 7 , wherein the adjusting mechanism is a draw string or hook and loop fastener.
10 . The personal protective gown of claim 1 , wherein the excreta opening is lined with a rubbery material configured to form a seal with the user's body and prevent liquids from entering the gown.
11 . The personal protective gown of claim 1 , wherein the excreta opening is lined with a cushion configured to provide additional comfort to the user during the use of a commode.
12 . The personal protective gown of claim 1 , wherein a container is welded onto the inside of the gown; and disinfecting wipes are included inside the container.
13 . A method of manufacturing a personal protective gown comprising:
molding a flat sheet of plastic in a mold to acquire the shape of the personal protective gown; cutting holes in the sheet for an arm opening, leg opening, waist opening, and excreta opening; folding the sheet into a compact shape; and packaging the sheet into a container.
14 . The method of claim 13 further comprising cutting a head opening into the sheet prior to packaging.
15 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising folding additional material around the edge of the arm opening, leg opening, waist opening, head opening, and excreta opening into the openings and welding the additional material to the sheet, wherein the additional material is configured to reinforce the openings.
16 . A method of manufacturing a personal protective gown comprising:
cutting multiple components from a flat sheet of plastic, wherein each of the components are a separate piece of the personal protective gown; cutting holes in the components at specified locations for an arm opening, leg opening, waist opening, and excreta opening; welding the components together to form the personal protective gown; folding the personal protective gown into a compact shape; and packaging the personal protective gown into a container.
17 . The method of claim 16 further comprising cutting a head opening into the components prior to packaging.
18 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising folding additional material around the edge of the arm opening, leg opening, waist opening, head opening, and excreta opening into the openings and welding the additional material to the gown, wherein the additional material is configured to reinforce the openings.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
