Abstract

Methods, apparatus, systems and machine-readable storage media of a multi-access edge computing (MEC) component, of a first MEC system, for discovering platforms in MEC systems, are described. In an example, a list of MEC system identifiers is received from a dedicated reference point. The MEC system identifiers includes a system identifier of a second, different MEC system. A list of available MEC hosts in the second MEC system that fulfill a predefined requirement is received. A list of shareable services on the first MEC system is determined. Information is provided to the second MEC system regarding the list of shareable services on the first MEC system.

         2 . An apparatus of a first multi-access edge computing (MEC) system, comprising:
 communication circuitry; and   processing circuitry to, in response a request for a service identified at a first MEC platform of the first MEC system:
 receive, via a first dedicated reference point between the first MEC system and a second MEC system, capability information for a second MEC platform of the second MEC system, wherein the first dedicated reference point is accessed with the communication circuitry; 
 receive, via a second dedicated reference point between the first MEC platform and the second MEC platform, service information to consume the service at the second MEC system, wherein the second dedicated reference point is accessed with the communication circuitry; 
 communicate information to consume the service, via the second dedicated reference point, from an application at the first MEC system to the service at the second MEC system; and 
 receive data from the service, via the second dedicated reference point. 
   
     
     
         3 . The apparatus of  claim 2 , wherein the first dedicated reference point is established between a first orchestrator of the first MEC system and a second orchestrator of the second MEC system. 
     
     
         4 . The apparatus of  claim 2 , wherein the capability information for the second MEC platform is provided in a list of identifiers of MEC platforms and services available among a plurality of MEC platforms. 
     
     
         5 . The apparatus of  claim 2 , wherein the service information to identify the service includes an identifier associated with the service, and wherein the data received by the service is to be used by the application at the first MEC system. 
     
     
         6 . The apparatus of  claim 2 , wherein the first MEC platform is operated at a first MEC host of the first MEC system, and wherein the second MEC platform is operated at a second MEC host of the second MEC system. 
     
     
         7 . The apparatus of  claim 6 , wherein the request for the service originates from a consumer MEC application operated at the first MEC host, and wherein the data from the service is provided from a producer MEC service operated by the second MEC platform at the second MEC host. 
     
     
         8 . The apparatus of  claim 2 , wherein the request for the service is forwarded from the first MEC system to the second MEC system in response to unavailability of the service at the first MEC system. 
     
     
         9 . The apparatus of  claim 8 , wherein the unavailability of the service at the first MEC system is based on processing or memory resources of the first MEC system. 
     
     
         10 . At least one non-transitory machine-readable storage medium comprising instructions, which when executed by processor circuitry of a computing device in a first multi-access edge computing (MEC) system, cause the processor circuitry to perform operations in response to a request for a service identified at a first MEC platform of the first MEC system, the operations to:
 receive, via a first reference point between the first MEC system and a second MEC system, capability information for a second MEC platform of the second MEC system;   receive, via a second reference point between the first MEC platform and the second MEC platform, service information to consume the service at the second MEC system;   communicate information to consume the service, via the second reference point, from an application at the first MEC system to the service at the second MEC system; and   receive data from the service, via the second reference point.

The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of  claim 10 , wherein the first reference point is a dedicated reference point established between a first orchestrator of the first MEC system and a second orchestrator of the second MEC system, and wherein the second reference point is a dedicated reference point established between the first MEC platform and the second MEC platform. 
     
     
         12 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of  claim 10 , wherein the capability information for the second MEC platform is provided in a list of identifiers of MEC platforms and services available among a plurality of MEC platforms.

The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of  claim 10 , wherein the service information to identify the service includes an identifier associated with the service, and wherein the data received by the service is to be used by the application at the first MEC system. 
     
     
         14 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of  claim 10 , wherein the first MEC platform is operated at a first MEC host of the first MEC system, and wherein the second MEC platform is operated at a second MEC host of the second MEC system.

The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of  claim 14 , wherein the request for the service originates from a consumer MEC application operated at the first MEC host, and wherein the data from the service is provided from a producer MEC service operated by the second MEC platform at the second MEC host. 
     
     
         16 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of  claim 10 , wherein the request for the service is forwarded from the first MEC system to the second MEC system in response to unavailability of the service at the first MEC system. 
     
     
         17 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of  claim 16 , wherein the unavailability of the service at the first MEC system is based on processing or memory resources of the first MEC system. 
     
     
         18 . A method performed in a first multi-access edge computing (MEC) system, comprising:
 identifying a request for a service at a first MEC platform of the first MEC system;   receiving, via a first reference point established directly between the first MEC system and a second MEC system, capability information for a second MEC platform of the second MEC system;   receiving, via a second reference point established directly between the first MEC platform and the second MEC platform, service information to consume the service at the second MEC system;   communicating information to consume the service, via the second reference point, from an application at the first MEC system to the service at the second MEC system; and   receiving data from the service, via the second reference point.   
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the first reference point is established between a first orchestrator of the first MEC system and a second orchestrator of the second MEC system. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the capability information for the second MEC platform is provided in a list of identifiers of MEC platforms and services available among a plurality of MEC platforms. 
     
     
         21 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the service information to identify the service includes an identifier associated with the service, and wherein the data received by the service is to be used by the application at the first MEC system. 
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the first MEC platform is operated at a first MEC host of the first MEC system, and wherein the second MEC platform is operated at a second MEC host of the second MEC system.

The method of  claim 22 , wherein the request for the service originates from a consumer MEC application operated at the first MEC host, and wherein the data from the service is provided from a producer MEC service operated by the second MEC platform at the second MEC host. 
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the request for the service is forwarded from the first MEC system to the second MEC system in response to unavailability of the service at the first MEC system. 
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 24 , wherein the unavailability of the service at the first MEC system is based on processing or memory resources of the first MEC system.
