Abstract

According to an aspect, an apparatus may include a media streaming device including electronic circuitry configured to receive media content wirelessly from a media content source, and an audio output cord segment having a first end portion configured to be coupled to an audio input port of the media streaming device, and a second end portion configured to be coupled to an audio rendering device, where the electronic circuitry is further configured to transmit audio content through the audio output cord segment to the audio rendering device.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A streaming device configured to stream media content, the streaming device comprising:
 a housing having a top enclosure and a bottom enclosure, wherein the top enclosure is coupled to the bottom enclosure, and wherein the bottom enclosure has a sidewall that includes (i) a first opening to an audio port configured to removably connect to an audio rendering device and (ii) a second opening to a connector configured to removably connect to a power source; and   electronic circuitry disposed within the housing, wherein the electronic circuitry is configured to receive audio content wirelessly from an external computing device over a communications network and transmit the audio content to the audio rendering device.   
     
     
         2 . The streaming device of  claim 1 , wherein the connector is a universal serial bus (USB) connector that is configured to connect to a USB power cord of the power source. 
     
     
         3 . The streaming device of  claim 1 , wherein the audio port is configured to removably connected to the audio rendering device via an external audio cord. 
     
     
         4 . The streaming device of  claim 3 , wherein the electronic circuitry includes an audio output circuit that is configured to determine whether the external audio cord, when connected to the audio port, is a digital audio cord or an analog audio cord. 
     
     
         5 . The streaming device of  claim 4 , wherein the digital audio cord is an optical cord. 
     
     
         6 . The streaming device of  claim 4 , wherein the analog audio cord is an RCA cord. 
     
     
         7 . The streaming device of  claim 4 , wherein the audio output circuit is further configured to format the received audio content according to a digital format in response to determining that the external audio cord is the digital audio cord. 
     
     
         8 . The streaming device of  claim 4 , wherein the audio output circuit is further configured to format the received audio content according to an analog format in response to determining that the external audio cord is the analog audio cord. 
     
     
         9 . The streaming device of  claim 1 , wherein the sidewall includes a third opening to a reset button that, when pressed, is configured to reset the streaming device. 
     
     
         10 . The streaming device of  claim 1 , wherein the sidewall includes a third opening to a button that, when pressed, is configured to initiate a setup mode of the streaming device. 
     
     
         11 . The streaming device of  claim 1 , further comprising a heat spreader coupled to an internal surface of the bottom enclosure. 
     
     
         12 . The streaming device of  claim 1 , wherein the bottom enclosure is a rectangular structure. 
     
     
         13 . The streaming device of  claim 1 , wherein the electronic circuitry is disposed on a printed circuit board substrate that includes a first surface and a second surface that opposes the first surface, wherein one of the first surface and the second surface includes an audio output circuit. 
     
     
         14 . The streaming device of  claim 1 , wherein the electronic circuitry is disposed on a printed circuit board substrate that includes a first surface and a second surface that opposes the first surface, wherein one of the first surface and the second surface includes a system on chip. 
     
     
         15 . The streaming device of  claim 1 , wherein the printed circuit board substrate includes a first surface and a second surface that opposes the first surface, wherein the first surface includes a first integrated circuit and a second integrated circuit, and wherein the printed circuit board substrate includes (i) an internal frame with a shield wall separating the first integrated circuit and the second integrated circuit and (ii) a cover shield coupled to the internal frame that covers the first integrated circuit and the second integrated circuit. 
     
     
         16 . The streaming device of  claim 1 , further comprising a light pipe protruding through a third opening on the sidewall of the bottom enclosure, wherein the light pipe is configured to indicate an operating status of the streaming device. 
     
     
         17 . The streaming device of  claim 1 , further comprising a light pipe coupled to the bottom enclosure, wherein the electronic circuitry is further configured to activate light through the light pipe such that the activation of the light through the light pipe indicates an operating status of the streaming device. 
     
     
         18 . The streaming device of  claim 1 , wherein the sidewall is substantially perpendicular to the top enclosure and the bottom enclosure of the housing. 
     
     
         19 . A streaming device configured to stream media content, the streaming device comprising:
 a cylindrical housing having a top enclosure and a bottom enclosure, wherein the top enclosure is coupled to the bottom enclosure, and wherein the bottom enclosure has a sidewall that includes (i) a first opening to an audio port configured to removably connect to an audio rendering device and (ii) a second opening to a connector configured to removably connect to a power source; and   electronic circuitry disposed within the cylindrical housing that includes a system on chip, a flash memory, a wireless communications chip, and random access memory, wherein the electronic circuitry is configured to receive audio content wirelessly from an external computing device over a communications network and transmit the audio content to the audio rendering device, and wherein a first shield having a first internal frame separates the system on chip and the flash memory and a second shield having a second internal frame separates the wireless communications chip and the random access memory.   
     
     
         20 . The streaming device of  claim 19 , wherein the electronic circuitry is disposed on a printed circuit board substrate that includes a first surface and a second surface that opposes the first surface, wherein the first surface includes the system on chip and the flash memory, and wherein the second surface includes the wireless communications chip, the random access memory, and an audio output circuit.
