Abstract

Ambulatory medical devices that provide therapy to a subject, such as blood glucose control, are disclosed. Disclosed systems and devices can transmit a request to modify blood glucose control therapy delivered to a subject. The request can be transmitted via a remote computing environment, the ambulatory medicament pump can include a medicament reservoir, a pump controller, a wireless data interface, and/or other elements. The device can receive an indication that the request to modify therapy is approved and, in response to the indication that the request to modify the blood glucose control therapy is approved, instruct the pump controller to modify the blood glucose control therapy delivered to the subject.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A remote therapy modification system configured to generate commands to remotely modify glucose level control therapy delivered to a subject by an ambulatory medicament pump, the remote therapy modification system comprising:
 a non-transitory memory configured to store specific computer-executable instructions; and   a hardware processor in communication with the non-transitory memory and configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
 receive, via user interaction with a therapy modification control element, a request to remotely modify a glucose level control therapy delivered to a subject by an ambulatory medicament pump; 
 receive, via a network interface, a connection confirmation signal from a remote computing environment, the connection confirmation signal indicating that a wireless wide area network data connection exists between the remote computing environment and the ambulatory medicament pump; 
 in response to receiving the request to modify the glucose level control therapy and receiving the connection confirmation signal, transmit, via the network interface, a remote therapy modification command to the remote computing environment, the remote therapy modification command configured to modify the glucose level control therapy delivered to the subject via the ambulatory medicament pump; and 
 receive, via the network interface, a modification verification signal from the remote computing environment, the modification verification signal indicating whether the glucose level control therapy delivered by the ambulatory medicament pump was successfully modified. 
   
     
     
         2 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 1 , wherein the hardware processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
 receive, via the network interface, the remote therapy modification request from the ambulatory medicament pump, the remote therapy modification request designating that the request to modify the glucose level control therapy be delivered via the ambulatory medicament pump.   
     
     
         3 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 1 , wherein the hardware processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
 transmit a subject alert to the remote computing environment based at least in part on the modification of the glucose level control therapy, the subject alert comprising an indication of at least (i) that the modification of the glucose level control therapy was successful and (ii) an attribute of the glucose level control therapy as modified.   
     
     
         4 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 1 , further comprising the therapy modification control element configured to receive the remote glucose level control therapy modification request. 
     
     
         5 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 1 , wherein the hardware processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
 generate for display on the therapy modification control element a user alert based at least in part on the modification of the glucose level control therapy, the user alert comprising an indication of at least (i) that the modification of the glucose level control therapy was successful and (ii) an attribute of the glucose level control therapy as modified.   
     
     
         6 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 1 , further comprising a connection verification system in communication with the hardware processor, the connection verification system configured to determine, based on the connection confirmation signal, that the wireless wide area network data connection exists between the network interface and the remote computing environment. 
     
     
         7 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 1 , wherein the hardware processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
 transmit a report to the remote computing environment based at least in part on the modification of the glucose level control therapy, the report configured to be stored at the remote computing environment.   
     
     
         8 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 1 , further comprising a wireless wide area network modem. 
     
     
         9 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 8 , wherein the wireless wide area network modem comprises the network interface, the wireless wide area network modem configured to provide the wireless wide area network data connection comprising a wide area network. 
     
     
         10 . The remote therapy modification system of any one of  claim 1 , wherein the request to remotely modify the glucose level control therapy delivered to the subject by the ambulatory medicament pump is received via user interaction with the therapy modification control element. 
     
     
         11 . A method for generating commands to remotely modify glucose level control therapy delivered to a subject by an ambulatory medicament pump, the method comprising:
 by an electronic processor executing instructions stored on non-transitory memory connected to the electronic processor,
 receiving a request to remotely modify a glucose level control therapy delivered to a subject by an ambulatory medicament pump; 
 receiving a connection confirmation signal from a remote computing environment, the connection confirmation signal indicating that a wireless wide area network data connection exists between the remote computing environment and the ambulatory medicament pump; 
 in response to receiving the request to modify the glucose level control therapy and receiving the connection confirmation signal, transmitting a remote therapy modification command to the remote computing environment, the remote therapy modification command configured to modify the glucose level control therapy delivered to the subject via the ambulatory medicament pump; and 
 receiving a modification verification signal from the remote computing environment, the modification verification signal indicating whether the glucose level control therapy delivered by the ambulatory medicament pump was successfully modified. 
   
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising:
 receiving the remote therapy modification request from the ambulatory medicament pump, the remote therapy modification request designating that the request to modify the glucose level control therapy be delivered via the ambulatory medicament pump.   
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising:
 transmitting a report to the remote computing environment based at least in part on the modification of the glucose level control therapy, the report configured to be stored at the remote computing environment.   
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising:
 transmitting a subject alert to the remote computing environment based at least in part on the modification of the glucose level control therapy, the subject alert comprising an indication of at least (i) that the modification of the glucose level control therapy was successful and (ii) an attribute of the glucose level control therapy as modified.   
     
     
         15 . A remote therapy modification system configured to generate commands to remotely modify glucose level control therapy administered to a subject by a glucose level control system, the remote therapy modification system comprising:
 a non-transitory memory configured to store specific computer-executable instructions; and   a hardware processor in communication with the non-transitory memory and configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
 receive, via user interaction with a therapy modification control element, a request to remotely modify a glucose level control therapy administered to a subject by a glucose level control system; 
 receive, via a network interface, a connection confirmation signal from a remote computing environment, the connection confirmation signal indicating that a wireless wide area network data connection exists between the remote computing environment and the glucose level control system; 
 in response to receiving the request to modify the glucose level control therapy and receiving the connection confirmation signal, transmit, via the network interface, a remote therapy modification command to the remote computing environment, the remote therapy modification command configured to modify the glucose level control therapy administered to the subject via the glucose level control system; and 
 receive, via the network interface, a modification verification signal from the remote computing environment, the modification verification signal indicating whether the glucose level control therapy administered by the glucose level control system was successfully modified. 
   
     
     
         16 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 15 , wherein the glucose level control system further comprises an ambulatory medicament pump configured to deliver the glucose level control therapy. 
     
     
         17 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 16 , wherein the hardware processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
 receive, via the network interface, the remote therapy modification request from the ambulatory medicament pump, the modification request designating that the request to modify the glucose level control therapy be delivered via the ambulatory medicament pump.   
     
     
         18 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 15 , wherein the hardware processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
 transmit a subject alert to the remote computing environment based at least in part on the modification of the glucose level control therapy, the subject alert comprising an indication of at least (i) that the modification of the glucose level control therapy was successful and (ii) an attribute of the glucose level control therapy as modified.   
     
     
         19 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 15 , wherein the hardware processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
 generate for display on the therapy modification control element a user alert based at least in part on the modification of the glucose level control therapy, the user alert comprising an indication of at least (i) that the modification of the glucose level control therapy was successful and (ii) an attribute of the glucose level control therapy as modified.   
     
     
         20 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 15 , further comprising a connection verification system in communication with the hardware processor, the connection verification system configured to determine, based on the connection confirmation signal, that the wireless wide area network data connection exists between the network interface and the remote computing environment. 
     
     
         21 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 15 , wherein the hardware processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
 transmit a report to the remote computing environment based at least in part on the modification of the glucose level control therapy, the report configured to be stored at the remote computing environment.   
     
     
         22 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 15 , further comprising a wireless wide area network modem. 
     
     
         23 . The remote therapy modification system of  claim 22 , wherein the wireless wide area network modem comprises the network interface, the wireless wide area network modem configured to provide the wireless wide area network data connection comprising a wide area network. 
     
     
         24 . A method for generating commands to remotely modify glucose level control therapy administered to a subject by a glucose level control system, the method comprising:
 by an electronic processor executing instructions stored on non-transitory memory connected to the electronic processor,
 receiving a request to remotely modify a glucose level control therapy administered to a subject by a glucose level control system; 
 receiving, via a network interface, a connection confirmation signal from a remote computing environment, the connection confirmation signal indicating that a wireless wide area network data connection exists between the remote computing environment and the glucose level control system; 
 in response to receiving the request to modify the glucose level control therapy and receiving the connection confirmation signal, transmitting, via the network interface, a remote therapy modification command to the remote computing environment, the remote therapy modification command configured to modify the glucose level control therapy administered to the subject via the glucose level control system; and 
 receiving, via the network interface, a modification verification signal from the remote computing environment, the modification verification signal indicating whether the glucose level control therapy administered by the glucose level control system was successfully modified. 
   
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 24 , further comprising delivering the glucose level control therapy via an ambulatory medicament pump. 
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 24 , further comprising:
 transmitting a subject alert to the remote computing environment based at least in part on the modification of the glucose level control therapy, the subject alert comprising an indication of at least (i) that the modification of the glucose level control therapy was successful and (ii) an attribute of the glucose level control therapy as modified.   
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 24 , further comprising:
 transmitting a report to the remote computing environment based at least in part on the modification of the glucose level control therapy, the report configured to be stored at the remote computing environment.
