Single conversion advertisements

Abstract

This specification describes technologies relating to content presentation. In general, one aspect of the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in methods that include the actions of receiving ad information from a seller; generating, using one or more processors, a single conversion ad using the received ad information, where the single conversion ad has an available inventory of one such that only a single conversion of the ad can be performed; transmitting the single conversion ad to one or more potential buyers; receive an input from one of the one or more potential buyers; and notifying the seller of the user input. Other embodiments of this aspect include corresponding systems, apparatus, and computer program products.

         2 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
 determining, by the one or more computers, that an available inventory of a product is greater than zero;   generating, by the one or more computers, given product information about the product in response to the determination that the limited available inventory of the product is greater than zero;   distributing, by the one or more computers and over a communications network, the given product information to user devices while the available inventory of the product is above a depleted level at which additional conversions provided by further distribution of the given product information will fail to be fulfilled because of the depleted level of the inventory;   determining, by the one or more computers and after distributing the given product information to the user devices, that the available inventory has been depleted to a depleted level at which additional conversions provided by further distribution of the given product information will fail to be fulfilled because of the depleted level of the inventory of the product;   discontinuing, by the one or more computers, distribution of the given product information following the determination that additional conversions provided by further distribution of the given product information will fail to be fulfilled because of the depleted level of the inventory of the product;   generating, by the one or more computers, different product information based on the determination that the additional conversions provided will fail to be fulfilled because of the depleted level of the inventory of the product; and   distributing, by the one or more computers and over a communications network, the different product information to user devices while the inventory level is at the depleted level.   
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein generating the given product information comprises generating the given product information using a description of the product and information about a seller of the product. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3 , further comprising:
 receiving user comments associated with the given product information;   providing the comments to the seller of the product;   after providing the comments, receiving input from the seller of the product; and   updating the given product information using the input from the seller of the product.   
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 , further comprising:
 selecting one or more potential buyers to which the given product information is to be provided based on an estimated shipping cost from the seller of the product to a potential buyer; and   providing the given product information to the selected potential buyers.   
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein distributing the given product information comprises distributing the given product information to web properties that present information relevant to the given product information. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , further comprising extracting one or more keywords from the given product information, wherein distributing the given product information to web properties that present information relevant to the given product information comprises distributing the given product information based on a user submitted search query matching the one or more extracted keywords. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7 , further comprising incorporating, into the given product information, additional information that is presented in response to user interaction with the given product information. 
     
     
         9 . A system comprising:
 one or more processors; and   a computer-readable medium coupled to the one or more processors having instructions stored thereon which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
 determining that an available inventory of a product is greater than zero; 
 generating given product information about the product in response to the determination that the limited available inventory of the product is greater than zero; 
 distributing, over a communications network, the given product information to user devices while the available inventory of the product is above a depleted level at which additional conversions provided by further distribution of the given product information will fail to be fulfilled because of the depleted level of the inventory; 
 determining, after distributing the given product information to the user devices, that the available inventory has been depleted to a depleted level at which additional conversions provided by further distribution of the given product information will fail to be fulfilled because of the depleted level of the inventory of the product; 
 discontinuing distribution of the given product information following the determination that additional conversions provided by further distribution of the given product information will fail to be fulfilled because of the depleted level of the inventory of the product; 
 generating different product information based on the determination that the additional conversions provided will fail to be fulfilled because of the depleted level of the inventory of the product; and 
 distributing, over a communications network, the different product information to user devices while the inventory level is at the depleted level. 
   
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 9 , wherein generating the given product information comprises generating the given product information using a description of the product and information about a seller of the product. 
     
     
         11 . The system of  claim 10 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to perform operations further comprising:
 receiving user comments associated with the given product information;   providing the comments to the seller of the product;   after providing the comments, receiving input from the seller of the product; and   updating the given product information using the input from the seller of the product.   
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to perform operations further comprising:
 selecting one or more potential buyers to which the given product information is to be provided based on an estimated shipping cost from the seller of the product to a potential buyer; and   providing the given product information to the selected potential buyers.   
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 12 , wherein distributing the given product information comprises distributing the given product information to web properties that present information relevant to the given product information. 
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 13 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to perform operations further comprising extracting one or more keywords from the given product information, wherein distributing the given product information to web properties that present information relevant to the given product information comprises distributing the given product information based on a user submitted search query matching the one or more extracted keywords. 
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 14 , wherein the instructions cause the one or more processors to perform operations further comprising incorporating, into the given product information, additional information that is presented in response to user interaction with the given product information. 
     
     
         16 . A non-transitory computer storage medium encoded with a computer program, the program comprising instructions that when executed by data processing apparatus cause the data processing apparatus to perform operations comprising:
 determining that an available inventory of a product is greater than zero;   generating given product information about the product in response to the determination that the limited available inventory of the product is greater than zero;   distributing, over a communications network, the given product information to user devices while the available inventory of the product is above a depleted level at which additional conversions provided by further distribution of the given product information will fail to be fulfilled because of the depleted level of the inventory;   determining, after distributing the given product information to the user devices, that the available inventory has been depleted to a depleted level at which additional conversions provided by further distribution of the given product information will fail to be fulfilled because of the depleted level of the inventory of the product;   discontinuing distribution of the given product information following the determination that additional conversions provided by further distribution of the given product information will fail to be fulfilled because of the depleted level of the inventory of the product;   generating different product information based on the determination that the additional conversions provided will fail to be fulfilled because of the depleted level of the inventory of the product; and   distributing, over a communications network, the different product information to user devices while the inventory level is at the depleted level.   
     
     
         17 . The non-transitory computer storage medium of  claim 16 , wherein generating the given product information comprises generating the given product information using a description of the product and information about a seller of the product. 
     
     
         18 . The non-transitory computer storage medium of  claim 17 , wherein the instructions cause the data processing apparatus to perform operations further comprising:
 receiving user comments associated with the given product information;   providing the comments to the seller of the product;   after providing the comments, receiving input from the seller of the product; and   updating the given product information using the input from the seller of the product.   
     
     
         19 . The non-transitory computer storage medium of  claim 18 , wherein the instructions cause the data processing apparatus to perform operations further comprising:
 selecting one or more potential buyers to which the given product information is to be provided based on an estimated shipping cost from the seller of the product to a potential buyer; and   providing the given product information to the selected potential buyers.   
     
     
         20 . The non-transitory computer storage medium of  claim 19 , wherein distributing the given product information comprises distributing the given product information to web properties that present information relevant to the given product information.
