Abstract

According to one embodiment, a method includes receiving, at a service provider system, a phone number associated with an incoming phone call; determining, at the service provider system, a name associated with the phone number; and sending the name associated with the phone number to a mobile phone device.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method, comprising:
 receiving, at a service provider system, a phone number associated with an incoming phone call;   determining, at the service provider system, a name associated with the phone number; and   sending the name associated with the phone number to a mobile phone device.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the phone number is associated with a picture. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the phone number is received at least in part via a wireless link. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the phone number is received from the mobile phone device. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the name associated with the phone number is determined from a database having names associated with phone numbers. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein the database is a caller ID database. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the name associated with the phone number is determined from a remote reverse phone number lookup service. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , comprising sending a type of an entity associated with the phone number to the mobile phone device. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the name is determined and sent to the mobile phone device in response to prior receipt of a user selection from a menu of the mobile phone device. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 1 , comprising determining additional information associated with the phone number, the additional information including an address. 
     
     
         11 . A system, comprising:
 a processor; and
 logic integrated with the processor, executable by the processor, or integrated with and executable by the processor, to cause the processor to: 
 receive, at a service provider system, a phone number associated with an incoming phone call; 
 determine, at the service provider system, a name associated with the phone number; and 
 send the name associated with the phone number to a mobile phone device. 
   
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the phone number is associated with a picture. 
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the phone number is received at least in part via a wireless link. 
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the phone number is received from the mobile phone device. 
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the name associated with the phone number is determined from a database having names associated with phone numbers. 
     
     
         16 . The system of  claim 15 , wherein the database is a caller ID database. 
     
     
         17 . A computer program product, comprising:
 a non-transitory computer readable storage medium having computer program code embodied therewith, wherein the computer program code is readable by a processor, executable by the processor, or readable and executable by the processor, to cause the processor to:   receive, at a service provider system, a phone number associated with an incoming phone call;   determine, at the service provider system, a name associated with the phone number; and   send the name associated with the phone number to a mobile phone device.   
     
     
         18 . A method, comprising:
 receiving, at a service provider system, a phone number sent by a user via a mobile phone device;   determining, at the service provider system, information associated with the phone number; and   sending the information associated with the phone number to the mobile phone device.   
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the information associated with the phone number is obtained from a database. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the information associated with the phone number includes an address. 
     
     
         21 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the information associated with the phone number includes an entity type. 
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the phone number is sent in response to the user selecting an option to perform a phone number search, wherein the option is provided to the user by the mobile phone device.
