Abstract

An apparatus, system, and method for creating, controlling, and generating event driven customized reminders associated with precise indoor or outdoor locations using one or more small base units, such as a transmitter or beacon, at the desired locations, continual or continuous or movement triggered Short Range Communication (SRC), and software running on a mobile device, such as a mobile phone are described herein. When the mobile device comes within communication range of any base unit employing SRC, e.g., located by the back door or office door, or when the mobile device comes within SRC of any base unit that is triggered by movement of said base unit, where said base unit is mounted on a door, employing an accelerometer and SRC, the system generates a conditional and predefined, by the user, alert and or message on the mobile device and or on the base unit.

1 . A method of generating a time interval based conditional reminder comprising:
 mounting a Bluetooth beacon on a movable element, the Bluetooth beacon comprising an accelerometer and a time measurement capability;   installing a software application on a mobile device including a Bluetooth receiver and at least one of a display and a sound generating means;   prompting a user to enter on the mobile device the time measurement increment;   transferring the time measurement increment from the mobile device to the Bluetooth beacon;   transmitting a trigger signal from the Bluetooth beacon when an accelerometer movement is sensed after a period of no accelerometer movement for at least the time measurement increment;   receiving the trigger signal at the mobile device; and   presenting the reminder on the mobile device.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the reminder is user-defined custom content comprising a text string, an audio file, a video file, or an audio-video file, or an alert. 
     
     
         3 . A method of generating a time interval based conditional reminder comprising:
 mounting a Bluetooth beacon on a movable element, the Bluetooth beacon comprising an accelerometer and a time measurement capability;   installing a software application on a mobile device including a Bluetooth receiver and at least one of a display and a sound generating means;   prompting a user to enter on the mobile device the time measurement increment;   transferring the time measurement increment from the mobile device to the Bluetooth beacon;   transmitting a trigger signal from the Bluetooth beacon when the accelerometer senses a cessation of movement for the time measurement increment;   receiving the trigger signal at the mobile device; and   presenting the reminder on the mobile device.   
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein the reminder is user-defined custom content comprising a text string, an audio file, a video file, or an audio-video file, or an alert. 
     
     
         5 . A method of generating a time interval based conditional reminder comprising:
 mounting a Bluetooth beacon on a movable element, the Bluetooth beacon comprising an accelerometer;   installing a software application on a mobile device including a Bluetooth receiver, a time measurement capability, and at least one of a display and a sound generating means;   prompting a user to enter on the mobile device a time measurement increment;   receiving at the mobile device a first trigger signal from the Bluetooth beacon when the accelerometer senses motion and actuating the time measurement capability to begin measuring time;   presenting the reminder on the mobile device when the mobile device receives a second trigger signal from the Bluetooth beacon after a period of no intervening signals between said first and second trigger signals for at least the time measurement increment.   
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein the reminder is user-defined custom content comprising a text string, an audio file, a video file, or an audio-video file, or an alert. 
     
     
         7 . A method of generating a time interval based conditional reminder comprising:
 mounting a Bluetooth beacon on a movable element, the Bluetooth beacon comprising an accelerometer;   installing a software application on a mobile device including a Bluetooth receiver, a time measurement capability, and at least one of a display and a sound generating means;   prompting a user to enter on the mobile device the time measurement increment;   receiving at the mobile device a trigger signal from the Bluetooth beacon when the accelerometer senses movement and actuating the time measurement capability to begin measuring time; and   presenting the reminder on the mobile device when no additional trigger signals from the Bluetooth beacon have been received during the time measurement increment.   
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the reminder is user-defined custom content comprising a text string, an audio file, a video file, or an audio-video file, or an alert.
