Abstract

A medical connector for use in a fluid pathway includes a substantially transparent housing having a proximal end with a proximal opening and a distal end with a distal opening, and a cavity extending therebetween. The connector provides a substantially visible fluid flow path extending through a substantial portion of the connector.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A medical connector for use in a fluid pathway, the connector comprising:
 a first portion having a first end and a second end, the first portion being substantially transparent;   a second portion having a first end and a second end, the first end of the second portion adjacent the second end of the first portion;   a first valve member having a first end and a second end, the first valve member disposed substantially within the first portion;   wherein a substantially straight fluid flow path within the first portion and the second portion is visible through an external surface of the first portion and the second portion.
