Abstract

The present disclosure provides an apparatus for disinfecting and cleaning an electronic item.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . An apparatus for removing contaminants from a surface of an item, the apparatus comprising a chamber having:
an inner volume sufficient to accommodate the item; and an ultraviolet (UV) light source in the chamber and comprising a plurality of UV light emitting diodes (LEDs) disposed within about 2 inches of the surface of the item and to shine UV light onto the surface of the item.

2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the contaminants include contagion.

3 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the contagion includes saliva, bacteria, and/or viruses.

4 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the contaminants include dirt.

5 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the contaminants include oil.

6 . The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the oil includes oil from skin.

7 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the item is an electronic device.

8 . The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising means for circulating air within the chamber.

9 . The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a ventilation fan in operative communication with the UV light source and configured to cool down heat emitted by the UV LEDs.

10 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the UV LEDs emit UV-C type light.

11 . An apparatus for removing contaminants from a surface of an item, the apparatus comprising:
a support component configured to support the item; and a plurality of UV light emitting diodes (LEDs) disposed within about 2 inches of a surface of the item and configured to shine UV light onto the surface of the item.

12 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the contaminants include contagion.

13 . The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the contagion includes saliva, bacteria, and/or viruses.

14 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the contaminants include dirt.

15 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the contaminants include oil.

16 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the oil includes oil from skin.

17 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the item is an electronic device.

18 . The apparatus of claim 11 further comprising means for circulating air within the apparatus.

19 . The apparatus of claim 11 further comprising a ventilation fan in operative communication with the plurality of UV LEDs and configured to cool down heat emitted by the UV LEDs.

20 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the UV LEDs emit UV-C type light.
