Abstract

An electronic device is provided that includes a base, a processor, and a tablet having a front surface, a rear surface and a bottom edge surface. A processor may operate at a first operating condition when the tablet is coupled to the base, and the processor may operate at a second operating condition when the tablet is not coupled to the base. The tablet may include a heat conducting device and an active edge. The heat conducting device may conduct heat from the processor to the active edge where the heat may be dissipated using supplemental cooling.

         2 . An electronic device comprising:
 a tablet;   a base;   a hinge to couple the tablet to the base;   processor circuitry to operate in a first operating condition when the tablet is coupled to the base, the first operating condition associated with a first processor clock frequency, the processor circuitry to operate in a second operating condition when the tablet is not coupled to the base, the second operating condition associated with a second processor clock frequency, the first processor clock frequency faster than the second processor clock frequency;   a heat sink to dissipate heat from the tablet; and   a heat conductor in the tablet to convey heat to the heat sink.   
     
     
         3 . The electronic device of  claim 2 , further including:
 a first connector to couple the tablet to the base; and   a second connector to couple the tablet to the base, the heat sink between the first connector and the second connector.   
     
     
         4 . The electronic device of  claim 3 , wherein at least one of the first connector or the second connector is to electrically couple the tablet and the base. 
     
     
         5 . The electronic device of  claim 2 , further including a fan to provide airflow over at least a portion of the heat sink. 
     
     
         6 . The electronic device of  claim 2 , wherein the heat conductor extends toward an edge of the tablet. 
     
     
         7 . The electronic device of  claim 2 , wherein the heat conductor is physically coupled to the heat sink. 
     
     
         8 . The electronic device of  claim 2 , wherein the heat conductor extends over a center axis of the tablet at at least one point. 
     
     
         9 . The electronic device of  claim 2 , wherein at least a portion of the heat conductor is equidistant from a first edge of the tablet and a second edge of the tablet opposite the first edge. 
     
     
         10 . The electronic device of  claim 2 , wherein the processor is to operate in the first operating condition due in part to the heat sink. 
     
     
         11 . An electronic device comprising:
 a tablet;   a base;   a hinge to couple the tablet to the base;   processor circuitry to operate in a first operating condition when the tablet is coupled to the base, the first operating condition associated with a first temperature limit, and the processor circuitry to operate in a second operating condition when the tablet is not coupled to the base, the second operating condition associated with a second temperature limit, the first temperature limit greater than the second temperature limit;   a heat sink to dissipate heat from the tablet; and   a heat conductor in the tablet to convey heat to the heat sink.   
     
     
         12 . The electronic device of  claim 11 , further including:
 a first connector to couple the tablet to the base; and   a second connector to couple the tablet to the base, the heat sink between the first connector and the second connector.   
     
     
         13 . The electronic device of  claim 11 , further including a fan to provide airflow over at least a portion of the heat sink. 
     
     
         14 . The electronic device of  claim 11 , wherein the heat conductor extends toward an edge of the tablet. 
     
     
         15 . The electronic device of  claim 11 , wherein at least a portion of the heat conductor is equidistant from a first edge of the tablet and a second edge of the tablet opposite the first edge. 
     
     
         16 . An electronic device comprising:
 a tablet;   a base;   a hinge to couple the tablet to the base;   a processor to operate in a first operating condition when the tablet is coupled to the base, the first operating condition associated with at least one of a first processor voltage or a first processor current, and the processor to operate in a second operating condition when the tablet is not coupled to the base, the second operating condition associated with at least one of a second processor voltage or a second processor current, the first processor voltage higher than the second processor voltage, and the first processor current higher than the second processor current;   a heat sink to dissipate heat from the tablet ; and   a heat conductor in the tablet to convey heat to the heat sink.   
     
     
         17 . The electronic device of  claim 16 , further including:
 a first connector to couple the tablet to the base; and   a second connector to couple the tablet to the base, the heat sink between the first connector and the second connector.   
     
     
         18 . The electronic device of  claim 16 , further including a fan to provide airflow over at least a portion of the heat sink. 
     
     
         19 . The electronic device of  claim 16 , wherein the heat conductor extends toward an edge of the tablet. 
     
     
         20 . The electronic device of  claim 16 , wherein the heat conductor is physically coupled to the heat sink. 
     
     
         21 . The electronic device of  claim 16 , wherein the heat conductor extends over a center axis of the tablet at at least one point. 
     
     
         22 . The electronic device of  claim 16 , wherein at least a portion of the heat conductor is equidistant from a first edge of the tablet and a second edge of the tablet opposite the first edge.
