Protective Bedding System and a Removable Duvet Cover

Abstract

A system for hygienic bedding is described. The system may include a removable top cover sheet that attaches to a duvet cover on a bed with a set of snaps or other fasteners. The removable top cover sheet can be waterproof and protect an underlying bedding system from dirt, moisture, or other unwanted elements. Further, a duvet cover is described having a versatile and easily accessible “U”-shaped zipper track that is generally centrally located on a top side or a bottom side of duvet cover. An interior duvet insert can be positioned inside of the duvet cover in such a way whereby a user can unzip the “U”-shaped zipper track via an attached zipper in order to easily insert the duvet insert and tie or otherwise attach the corners of the duvet insert to each interior corner of the duvet cover having the “U”-shaped zipper track.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A removable duvet cover, comprising:
 a top surface;   a bottom surface;   an interior empty surface defined by the top surface and the bottom surface, wherein the top surface and the bottom surface are coupled together;   a U-shaped zipper track integrated into either the top surface or the bottom surface of the removable duvet cover that extends over a majority of the top surface or the bottom surface of the removable duvet cover; and   at least one zipper attached to the U-shaped zipper track,   wherein the U-shaped zipper track is configured to be fully opened and fully closed shut with the at least one zipper,   wherein when the U-shaped zipper track is fully opened, a semi-removable flap of the removable duvet cover is partially detached from the removable duvet cover and the interior empty surface of the removable duvet cover is exposed,   wherein a duvet insert is insertable within the interior empty surface of the removable duvet cover that is accessible from the U-shaped zipper track.   
     
     
         2 . The removable duvet cover of  claim 1 , further comprising interior ties on each corner of an interior surface of the removable duvet cover. 
     
     
         3 . The removable duvet cover of  claim 1 , wherein the U-shaped zipper track is generally centrally located on the top surface or the bottom surface of the removable duvet cover. 
     
     
         4 . The removable duvet cover of  claim 1 , wherein the U-shaped zipper track is oriented facing upwards or downwards. 
     
     
         5 . A bedding system, comprising:
 a removable top panel, the removable top panel comprising a top surface and a bottom surface, wherein the bottom surface includes one or more fasteners; and   a removable duvet cover, the removable duvet cover comprising a top surface, a bottom surface, and an interior empty portion, and one or more complimentary fastener attachments located on the top surface of the removable duvet cover,   wherein the one or more fasteners on the bottom surface of the removable top panel are configured to be attached to the one or more complementary fastener attachments on the top surface of the removable duvet cover; and   a duvet insert, wherein the duvet insert is configured to be inserted within the interior empty portion of the removable duvet cover,   wherein the removable top panel is configured to be removed as needed from the bedding system without needing to remove the duvet cover, and   wherein the removable top panel provides additional protection to the removable duvet cover.   
     
     
         6 . The bedding system of  claim 5 , wherein the removable duvet cover further comprises a U-shaped zipper track integrated into either the top surface or the bottom surface of the removable duvet cover and at least one zipper attached to the U-shaped zipper track. 
     
     
         7 . The bedding system of  claim 6 , wherein the U-shaped zipper track is configured to be fully opened and fully closed shut with the at least one zipper. 
     
     
         8 . The bedding system of  claim 7 , wherein when the U-shaped zipper track is fully opened, a semi-removable flap of the removable duvet cover is partially detached from the removable duvet cover, and the interior empty portion of the removable duvet cover is exposed, wherein a duvet insert is insertable within the interior empty portion of the removable duvet cover that is accessible from the U-shaped zipper track. 
     
     
         9 . The bedding system of  claim 5 , wherein the removable duvet cover further comprises interior ties configured to tie to a pocket or other portion of the duvet insert. 
     
     
         10 . The bedding system of  claim 9 , wherein the duvet insert is securable within the interior empty portion of the removable duvet cover by tying or otherwise coupling the interior ties or other fasteners to each corner of the duvet insert. 
     
     
         11 . The bedding system of  claim 6 , wherein the U-shaped zipper track is oriented facing upwards or facing downwards. 
     
     
         12 . A method for using a bedding system, the method comprising:
 positioning a removable duvet cover on a bed, the removable duvet cover further comprising a U-shaped zipper track on a top surface of the removable duvet cover with an attached zipper, and a set of fasteners positioned on the top surface of the removable duvet cover;   unzipping the U-shaped zipper track to a fully opened position, wherein a semi-removable flap is partially detached from the U-shaped zipper track when the U-shaped zipper track is in the fully opened position;   exposing an interior empty portion of the removable duvet cover;   inserting a duvet insert into the interior empty portion of the removable duvet cover by pushing or otherwise manipulating a duvet insert into each corner of the removable duvet cover via the exposed interior empty portion;   tying or otherwise attaching an interior tie or other attachment on an interior of the removable duvet cover to a pocket or other portion of the duvet insert;   after positioning the duvet insert within the interior empty portion and securing the duvet insert in place, zipping shut the U-shaped zipper track with the attached zipper; and   coupling a removable top panel to the top surface of the removable duvet cover further comprising coupling the set of fasteners on the removable duvet cover to a set of fastener attachments on an underside of the removable top panel.   
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the U-shaped zipper track is oriented facing upwards or facing downwards. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the U-shaped zipper track is integrated into a bottom surface of the removable duvet cover. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the U-shaped zipper track is generally centrally located on the removable duvet cover and extends over a majority of either the top surface or a bottom surface of the removable duvet cover. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 12 , further comprising, coupling a removable bottom sheet to a bottom surface of the removable duvet cover using one or more fasteners positioned on the bottom surface of the removable duvet cover and one or more complementary fastener attachments positioned on a top surface of the removable bottom sheet. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the removable top panel is waterproof. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the removable duvet cover is waterproof. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein the set of fasteners are positioned on the underside of the removable top panel and a set of complementary fastener attachments are positioned on the top surface of the removable top panel. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 12 , further comprising, tying or otherwise attaching an interior tie or other attachment on an interior of the removable duvet cover to a pocket or other portion of the duvet insert, wherein there is a pocket located on each corner of the duvet cover and a complementary tie or other attachment mechanism on each corner of an interior of the removable duvet cover.
