Communication apparatus and control method for the same

Abstract

Provided is a system with which devices participating in a particular network and devices that are not participating in the particular network can be easily distinguished from one another. A communication apparatus displays a list screen of devices existing in the surroundings of the communication apparatus. This list screen is displayed while identification information indicating whether or not the device is participating in the particular network is associated with the device.

         16 . A control method for a communication apparatus that is able to execute a communication based on a Bluetooth® standard and a communication based on a second wireless communication standard different from the Bluetooth standard, the method comprising;
 obtaining first information transmitted from an external apparatus by the communication based on the Bluetooth® standard; 
 displaying a screen including an accepting item for accepting a user instruction, based on the obtained first information; and 
 performing setup processing in which second information relating to an external access point is transmitted to the external apparatus by the communication based on the Bluetooth® standard, after the user instruction has been accepted by using the accepting item, 
 wherein a connection based on the second wireless communication standard, between the external apparatus and the external access point, is established based on the second information transmitted by the communication based on the Bluetooth® standard. 
 
     
     
         17 . The control method according to  claim 16 , wherein the communication based on the second wireless communication standard is a communication based on IEEE802.11 Standard series. 
     
     
         18 . The control method according to  claim 16 , wherein the communication apparatus is a smart phone and the screen is displayed on a display device of the smartphone. 
     
     
         19 . The control method according to  claim 16 , wherein the method further comprises displaying a second screen including an icon image corresponding to the external apparatus after the user instruction having been accepted by using the accepting item and before the setup processing being performed. 
     
     
         20 . The control method according to  claim 19 , wherein the second screen further includes information indicating a device name of the external apparatus. 
     
     
         21 . The control method according to  claim 16 , wherein the communication based on the Bluetooth® Standard is a communication based on Bluetooth® Low Energy. 
     
     
         22 . The control method according to  claim 21 , wherein the second information is transmitted based on Generic Attribute Profile communication of Bluetooth® Low Energy. 
     
     
         23 . The control method according to  claim 16 , wherein the first information is obtained by the communication apparatus receiving an advertising packet that is transmitted by the external apparatus. 
     
     
         24 . The control method according to  claim 16 , wherein the second information is transmitted to the external apparatus which is identified based on the obtained first information. 
     
     
         25 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed, cause a communication apparatus to perform a process, the communication apparatus able to execute a communication based on a Bluetooth® standard and a communication based on a second wireless communication standard different from the Bluetooth standard, the process comprising;
 obtaining first information transmitted from an external apparatus by the communication based on the Bluetooth® standard; 
 displaying a screen including an accepting item for accepting a user instruction, based on the obtained first information; and 
 performing setup processing in which second information relating to an external access point is transmitted to the external apparatus by the communication based on the Bluetooth® standard, after the user instruction has been accepted by using the accepting item, 
 wherein a connection based on the second wireless communication standard, between the external apparatus and the external access point, is established based on the second information transmitted by the communication based on the Bluetooth® standard. 
 
     
     
         26 . A communication apparatus that is able to execute a communication based on a Bluetooth® standard and a communication based on a second wireless communication standard different from the Bluetooth standard, the communication apparatus comprising;
 at least one processor that executes a set of instructions, the set of instructions, when executed, causing the communication apparatus to perform operations comprising: 
 obtaining first information transmitted from an external apparatus by the communication based on the Bluetooth® standard; 
 displaying a screen including an accepting item for accepting a user instruction, based on the obtained first information; and 
 performing setup processing in which second information relating to an external access point is transmitted to the external apparatus by the communication based on the Bluetooth® standard, after the user instruction having been accepted by using the accepting item, 
 wherein a connection based on the second wireless communication standard, between the external apparatus and the external access point, is established based on the second information transmitted by the communication based on the Bluetooth® standard.
