System For Attaching Accessories To A Snowmobile

Abstract

A snowmobile including a chassis, a driver's seat mounted to the chassis, and an accessory. The accessory includes a first locking member and a second locking member disconnected from the first locking member. The first locking member and the second locking member are configured to couple the accessory to the chassis behind the driver's seat.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A snowmobile comprising:
 a chassis;   a driver's seat mounted to the chassis; and   an accessory including a first locking member and a second locking member disconnected from the first locking member, the first locking member and the second locking member configured to couple the accessory to the chassis behind the driver's seat.   
     
     
         2 . The snowmobile of  claim 1 , wherein the first locking member and the second locking member are spaced apart and on opposite sides of the accessory. 
     
     
         3 . The snowmobile of  claim 1 , the snowmobile further comprising:
 a first mount on the chassis over the tunnel, the first mount configured to cooperate with the first locking member; and   a second mount on the chassis over the tunnel, the second mount configured to cooperate with the second locking member.   
     
     
         4 . The snowmobile of  claim 3 , further comprising a first track extending along the chassis over the tunnel and a second track extending along the chassis over the tunnel, the first mount is coupled to the first track and the second mount is coupled to the second track. 
     
     
         5 . The snowmobile of  claim 1 , wherein the accessory is a first accessory, the snowmobile further including a second accessory configured to cooperate with the first accessory to mount the second accessory over the tunnel. 
     
     
         6 . The snowmobile of  claim 1 , wherein the accessory is a first accessory, the snowmobile further including a second accessory adjacent to the first accessory. 
     
     
         7 . The snowmobile of  claim 1 , wherein the first accessory is a storage container and the second accessory is a storage container. 
     
     
         8 . The snowmobile of  claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first accessory and the second accessory is a fuel tank, an oil tank, a chainsaw mount, a snowboard rack, an ice auger mount, a ski mount, a gun scabbard, or a passenger seat. 
     
     
         9 . A snowmobile comprising:
 a chassis defining a tunnel;   a track for propelling the snowmobile extending within the tunnel;   a first mount on the chassis over the tunnel;   a second mount on the chassis over the tunnel, the second mount spaced apart from, opposite to, and facing the first mount;   an accessory including a first locking member on a first side of the accessory and a second locking member on a second side of the accessory, the first locking member is configured to cooperate with the first mount and the second locking member is configured to cooperate with the second mount to connect the accessory to the chassis over the tunnel;   wherein the first locking member and the second locking member of the accessory are opposite to, spaced apart from, and disconnected from each other.   
     
     
         10 . The snowmobile of  claim 9 , wherein the accessory is a first accessory, the snowmobile further including a second accessory adjacent to the first accessory. 
     
     
         11 . The snowmobile of  claim 9 , wherein the accessory is a first accessory, the snowmobile further including a second accessory in cooperation with the first accessory. 
     
     
         12 . The snowmobile of  claim 9 , wherein the accessory is a first accessory, the snowmobile further including a second accessory mounted over the tunnel. 
     
     
         13 . The snowmobile of  claim 10 , wherein the second accessory is stacked relative to the first accessory. 
     
     
         14 . The snowmobile of  claim 10 , wherein the first accessory and the second accessory are stacked on the chassis. 
     
     
         15 . The snowmobile of  claim 10 , wherein the first accessory is a first storage container and the second accessory is a second storage container. 
     
     
         16 . The snowmobile of  claim 10 , wherein at least one of the first accessory and the second accessory is a fuel tank. 
     
     
         17 . The snowmobile of  claim 10 , wherein at least one of the first accessory and the second accessory is a secondary seat. 
     
     
         18 . The snowmobile of  claim 10 , wherein at least one of the first accessory and the second accessory is an oil tank, a chainsaw mount, a snowboard rack, an ice auger mount, a ski mount, or a gun scabbard. 
     
     
         19 . The snowmobile of  claim 9 , further comprising a first track extending along the chassis over the tunnel and a second track extending along the chassis over the tunnel, the first mount is coupled to the first track and the second mount is coupled to the second track. 
     
     
         20 . The snowmobile of  claim 9 , wherein the first mount includes a first post and the second mount includes a second post.
