Using machine learning to modify presentation of mailbox objects
Abstract
Systems and methods that enable an information management system to utilize machine learning processes to modify and/or reconfigure presentation of mailbox contents, such as mail objects (e.g., email messages), are described. The systems and methods may provide data associated with mail objects to a machine learning system, which runs various machine learning processes using the mail object data. The machine learning processes may discover and/or identify connections between mail objects, such as connections between objects based on two or more objects sharing an associated product or service, an object being associated with a trending topic or issue, an object being associated and/or identified as having a relative high (or, low) priority, and so on.

1 . A method for presenting mailbox data objects to a user, the method comprising:
parsing text from each data object of a plurality of data objects, wherein the plurality of data objects is associated with a mailbox of a user; calculating one or more document vectors for each data object based on the parsed text of the data object; determining similarities between the data objects based on the one or more document vectors for each of the data objects; tagging each data object with one or more tags based on the determined similarities between the data objects; grouping the plurality of data objects into priority clusters based on the one or more tags applied to each of the data objects; receiving a mode of operation for the mailbox in which to display data objects for one or more of the priority clusters; and presenting one or more data objects of one or more of the priority clusters based on the received mode of operation of the mailbox.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a tag of the one or more tags indicates a priority level for a corresponding data object that is based on an owner of the data object and connections within the transmitted data between the owner of the data object and other data objects within the mailbox.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein grouping the plurality of data objects into priority clusters includes grouping one or more data objects connected to the owner into a common priority cluster.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:
at least one data object is an e-mail, parsing text from the at least one data object includes parsing header information for the e-mail, and individual fields within the header information are assigned weights of priority used in tagging the at least one data object with the one or more tags.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:
a tag of the one or more tags indicates a corresponding data object is associated with a certain product based on information within the data object, and grouping the plurality of data objects into priority clusters includes grouping data objects having the tag associated with the certain product into a priority cluster for the certain product.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:
a tag of the one or more tags indicates a corresponding data is associated with a trending topic within multiple mailboxes of an information management system that includes the mailbox based on information within the data object, and grouping the plurality of data objects into priority clusters includes grouping data objects having the tag associated with the trending topic into a priority cluster for the trending topic.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein presenting the one or more data objects within the mailbox based on the received mode of operation of the mailbox includes presenting a certain number of the one or more data objects that has been selected by the user of the mailbox.
8 . A system for presenting mailbox data objects to a user, the system comprising:
one or more non-transitory, computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions stored thereon; and one or more processors that, having executed the computer-executable instructions, configures the system to perform a plurality of operations comprising:
parsing text from each data object of a plurality of data objects, wherein the plurality of data objects is associated with a mailbox of a user;
calculating one or more document vectors for each data object based on the parsed text of the data object;
determining similarities between the data objects based on the one or more document vectors for each of the data objects;
tagging each data object with one or more tags based on the determined similarities between the data objects;
grouping the plurality of data objects into priority clusters based on the one or more tags applied to each of the data objects;
receiving a mode of operation for the mailbox in which to display data objects for one or more of the priority clusters; and
presenting one or more data objects of one or more of the priority clusters based on the received mode of operation of the mailbox.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein a tag of the one or more tags indicates a priority level for a corresponding data object that is based on an owner of the data object and connections within the transmitted data between the owner of the data object and other data objects within the mailbox.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein grouping the plurality of data objects into priority clusters includes grouping one or more data objects connected to the owner into a common priority cluster.

a tag of the one or more tags indicates a corresponding data is associated with a trending topic within multiple mailboxes of an information management system that includes the mailbox based on information within the data object, and grouping the plurality of data objects into priority clusters includes grouping data objects having the tag associated with the trending topic into a priority cluster for the trending topic.
14 . The system of claim 8 , wherein presenting the one or more data objects within the mailbox based on the received mode of operation of the mailbox includes presenting a certain number of the one or more data objects that has been selected by the user of the mailbox.
15 . A non-transitory, computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions stored thereon that, when executed by one or more processors, cause a system to perform method for presenting mailbox objects to a user, the method comprising:
parsing text from each data object of a plurality of data objects, wherein the plurality of data objects is associated with a mailbox of a user; calculating one or more document vectors for each data object based on the parsed text of the data object; determining similarities between the data objects based on the one or more document vectors for each of the data objects; tagging each data object with one or more tags based on the determined similarities between the data objects; grouping the plurality of data objects into priority clusters based on the one or more tags applied to each of the data objects; receiving a mode of operation for the mailbox in which to display data objects for one or more of the priority clusters; and presenting one or more data objects of one or more of the priority clusters based on the received mode of operation of the mailbox.

The non-transitory, computer-readable media of claim 15 , wherein a tag of the one or more tags indicates a priority level for a corresponding data object that is based on an owner of the data object and connections within the transmitted data between the owner of the data object and other data objects within the mailbox.
17 . The non-transitory, computer-readable media of claim 16 , wherein grouping the plurality of data objects into priority clusters includes grouping one or more data objects connected to the owner into a common priority cluster.
18 . The non-transitory, computer-readable media of claim 15 , wherein:
