Abstract

A system for managing collections having multiple content types can include a mixed-media collection (MMC) managing module to create an MMC incorporating previously captured screen data, an MMC storage module to store the MMC, an MMC rider module to generate a rider including additional data, and an MMC playback module to present to a user playback data and the rider, the playback data including the previously captured screen data that was incorporated into the MMC.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A system for managing collections having multiple content types, comprising:
a mixed-media collection (MMC) managing module configured to create an MMC and incorporate into the MMC previously captured screen data comprising a plurality of content types that were previously presented to a user during a capture time interval; an MMC storage module configured to store the MMC; an MMC rider module configured to generate a rider, the rider comprising additional data; and an MMC playback module configured to present to another user playback data and the rider, the playback data comprising at least some of the previously captured screen data incorporated into the MMC, and the playback data having a corresponding playback time interval, the playback time interval corresponding to at least a portion of the capture time interval.

2 . The system according to claim 1 in which the rider is presented for only a portion of the playback time interval.

3 . The system according to claim 2 in which the MMC rider module is further configured to add a second rider to the MMC, the second rider being presented for only a different portion of the playback time interval.

4 . The system according to claim 2 in which the portion of the playback time interval comprises a portion of the playback time interval corresponding to one of the plurality of content types.

5 . The system of claim 1 in which the rider is inserted into the MMC at a particular point in the capture time interval.

6 . The system of claim 5 in which the rider is inserted into the MMC by one of the user, the other user, and yet another user.

7 . The system according to claim 1 in which the rider is presented separately from the playback data.

8 . The system according to claim 1 in which the rider is presented as part of the playback data.

9 . The system according to claim 1 in which the rider is presented only when a particular one of the plurality of content types is presented to the other user.

10 . The system according to claim 1 in which the MMC playback module is configured to present the playback data and the rider at least partially simultaneously.

11 . The system according to claim 1 in which the rider comprises an audio track to accompany at least some of the playback data.

12 . The system according to claim 1 in which the rider comprises a graphic overlay to accompany at least some of the playback data.

13 . The system according to claim 1 in which the rider comprises a file to be attached to the playback data.

14 . The system according to claim 1 in which the rider comprises a link to data that is stored separately from the MMC.

15 . The system according to claim 1 in which the rider comprises text.

16 . The system according to claim 1 in which the rider comprises metadata.

17 . The system according to claim 1 in which the MMC rider module is further configured to generate another rider to be associated with the rider.

         18 . A machine-controlled method, comprising:
retrieving a stored mixed-media collection (MMC), the stored MMC comprising previously captured visual data comprising a plurality of contents that were previously presented to a user on a display device during capture; presenting to another user playback data corresponding to the previously captured visual data; generating at least one rider comprising additional data associated with at least one of the plurality of contents; and presenting the at least one rider to the other user at least partially simultaneously with the playback data.

19 . The machine-controlled method according to claim 18 in which presenting the at least one rider to the other user comprises inserting the at least one rider into the playback data at a particular point.

20 . The machine-controlled method according to claim 18 further comprising switching the at least one rider from a first rider format to a second rider format.

21 . One or more tangible, machine-readable media storing machine-executable instructions that, when executed by a machine, cause the machine to perform the machine-controlled method according to claim 18 .
