Abstract

A method of aggregating and using medical device data from a plurality of remote institutions. The system and method electronically receives at a central computer system a plurality of established medical device data, each of the plurality of established medical device data being received from a respective medication delivery system, each of the respective medication delivery systems having a respective plurality of medical devices within the respective remote institution, such as medication delivery pumps, associated therewith and utilized therein. The system and method electronically combines and stores the plurality of established medical device data from each of the plurality of remote institutions within a memory, and electronically provides a remote client computer access to at least one of a central reporting application adapted for providing summary information to the remote client computer about the medical device data, and/or other applications.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 .- 77 . (canceled)

78 . A method of monitoring medical device activity or configuration library information for a medical device, comprising:
receiving medical device activity or configuration library information from a facility, the facility being associated with a peer group, wherein the peer group comprises facilities that are logically grouped according to at least one of: institution type, number of beds, medical device type, medical device manufacturer, clinical care area, or service line; storing the received medical device activity or the received configuration library information to a database; organizing the received medical device activity or the received configuration library information in a data set associated with the peer group; removing identifying information of the facility from the received medical device activity or the received configuration library information; selectively allowing a user remote access to access a portion of the data set limited based upon a peer group selection and search parameters from the user for querying the database; and transmitting configuration information associated with the information associated with the data set to an external computing system, the configuration information for configuration of one or more medical devices.

79 . The method of claim 78 , further comprising displaying a visualization of the information associated with the portion of the data set, the information being limited based upon the peer group selection and search parameters requested by the user.

80 . The method of claim 78 , wherein the identifying information of the facility comprises a name of the facility or a location of the facility.

81 . The method of claim 78 , further comprising substituting the identifying information of the facility with fake or generic information.

82 . The method of claim 78 , wherein the received medical activity comprises medication delivery pump usage information.

83 . The method of claim 78 , wherein the received configuration library information comprises at least one of medication name, generic drug name, medication concentration, medication dosing unit, lower hard limit, lower soft limit, upper soft limit, upper hard limit, and/or statistical information.

84 . The method of claim 78 , wherein the search parameters comprise at least one of facility name, entity type, bed size, device type, pump type, time frame, clinical care area, and/or generic drug name.

85 . A method of monitoring activity or configuration library information for a medical device, comprising:
accessing a database of medical device activity or configuration library information from a plurality of facilities, the medical device activity or the configuration library information from the plurality of facilities organized into peer groups according to one or more assigned criteria of each of the plurality of facilities, wherein at least one of the one or more assigned criteria is selected from the group consisting of institution type, number of beds, medical device type, medical device manufacturer, clinical care area, and service line, wherein identifying information for each of the plurality of facilities has been removed from the medical device activity or the configuration library information from the plurality of facilities in the database; comparing medical device activity or configuration library information received from a facility associated with a peer group with medical device activity or configuration information of the database from at least one or more other facilities in the same peer group; determining that the medical device activity or the configuration library information received from the facility is within one or more pre-defined thresholds; and transmitting the medical device activity or the configuration library information received from the facility to the medical device, wherein the configuration library information is for configuration of the medical device within the facility.

86 . The method of claim 85 , further comprising:
receiving the medical device activity or the configuration library information from the facility; storing the received medical device activity or configuration library information to the database.

87 . The method of claim 85 , wherein the identifying information for each of the plurality of facilities comprises a facility name or a facility location.

88 . The method of claim 85 , wherein the identifying information for each of the plurality of facilities has been substituted with fake or generic information.

89 . The method of claim 85 , wherein the one or more pre-defined thresholds are selected by the facility.

90 . The method of claim 85 , wherein the one or more pre-defined thresholds are selected by a system administrator for the at least one or more other facilities.

91 . The method of claim 85 , wherein the one or more pre-defined thresholds are based on the comparison with the one or more other facilities in the same peer group.

92 . The method of claim 85 , wherein the one or more pre-defined thresholds is based on one or more standard deviations in separation of the facility from the at least one or more other facilities in the same peer group.

93 . The method of claim 85 , wherein the one or more pre-defined thresholds comprises a percentage of edits of total programs.

94 . The method of claim 85 , wherein the one or more pre-defined thresholds comprises a number of hard or soft limits.

95 . The method of claim 85 , wherein the at least one or more other facilities in the same peer group requires a minimum number of institutions before comparisons are allowed.

96 . The method of claim 85 , wherein the comparison is performed automatically and periodically.
