Facilitation of capability configuration and coordination for integrated access and backhaul 5g or other next generation network
Abstract
In order to support integrated access and backhaul (IAB) network functionality, such as topology formation/adaptation, and access and backhaul link management, capability signaling can be configured and exchanged between the network, parent IAB nodes, and child IAB nodes. This can include messages related to IAB-node distributed unit (DU) function capabilities, IAB-node mobile termination (MT) function capabilities, joint IAB-node DU/MT capabilities, and internal IAB node and network capability management and coordination functions. Additionally, the aforementioned system can comprise an IAB capability manager function to coordinate capability messages between the MT and DU functions.

1 . A method, comprising:
facilitating, by first network equipment comprising a processor, establishing a connection to integrated access backhaul equipment, wherein the first network equipment comprises a first capability of a group of available equipment capabilities; and facilitating, by the first network equipment, receiving a message comprising message data representative of a second capability, of the group of available equipment capabilities, of second network equipment, wherein the integrated access backhaul equipment communicated the message in response to an initial access procedure being determined to have been performed.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first capability comprises a mobile termination functionality.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the second capability comprises a distributed unit functionality.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein first capability comprises a joint capability associated with the first network equipment and the second network equipment.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the integrated access backhaul equipment integrated a backhaul adaptation protocol routing sublayer that facilitated the joint capability being at least part of the first capability.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the message is via a radio resource control signal, and wherein the second capability comprises a distributed unit functionality.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the message is via an F1 application protocol, and wherein the second capability comprises a mobile termination functionality.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the group of available equipment capabilities comprises a capability to support for different protocol stack sub-layers.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the group of available equipment capabilities comprises a capability for user-plane functionality.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the group of available equipment capabilities comprises a capability for radio resource management functionality.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the group of available equipment capabilities comprises a capability for physical layer functionality.
12 . An first integrated access node device, comprising:
a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:
establishing a connection to a second integrated access node device via a network connection, and
coordinating implementation of a joint network feature with the second integrated access node device via the connection, wherein coordination of the joint network feature was enabled based on information, corresponding to a capability of the first integrated access node device, being communicated to the second integrated access node device by a capability coordination device.
13 . The first integrated access node device of claim 12 , wherein coordinating the implementation of the joint network feature comprises splitting performance of the joint network feature between the first integrated access node device and the second integrated access node device, resulting in a split capability.
14 . The first integrated access node device of claim 13 , wherein the split capability comprises a mobile termination function capability split from a distributed unit capability.
15 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by first node equipment comprising a processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:
establishing a connection to network capability management equipment, wherein the first node equipment comprises a first capacity to perform a first network function; receiving coordinating information comprising information representative of a second capacity of second node equipment to perform a second network function; and based on the coordinating information, enabling a coordinated network function for the second node equipment, wherein the coordinated network function is enabled based on the first capacity and the second capacity.
16 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein enabling the coordinated network function comprises enabling the coordinated network function for a user equipment.
17 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein enabling the coordinated network function for the user equipment comprises enabling the first network function for the user equipment in coordination with the second network function enabled enabled the second node equipment.
18 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein enabling the coordinated network function enabled the second node equipment is based on communication established with the second node equipment based on traffic routing information enabled by the network capability management equipment.
19 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the traffic routing information was enabled based on a backhaul adaption protocol.
