Method and apparatus of beam determination in a wireless communication system
Abstract
A method and apparatus are disclosed from the perspective of a UE (User Equipment). In one embodiment, the method includes the UE receiving an SCell activation/deactivation MAC (Medium Access Control) control element to activate the SCell. The method further includes the UE activates the SCell based on the SCell activation/deactivation MAC control element. The method also includes the UE receiving a beam indication by a MAC control element via the PCell, wherein the beam indication includes a cell index and the beam indication is used to derive at least one beam to be used in the SCell. In addition, the method includes the UE using the at least one beam for a DL (Downlink) transmission or an UL (Uplink) transmission in the SCell.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method for a User Equipment (UE) configured with at least two serving cells, including a Primary Cell (PCell) and a Secondary Cell (SCell), comprising:
receiving a SCell activation/deactivation Medium Access Control (MAC) control element from a network node to activate the SCell; activating the SCell based on the SCell activation/deactivation MAC control element; receiving a beam indication by a MAC control element from the network node via the PCell, wherein the beam indication is used to derive at least one beam to be used in the SCell for monitoring Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH), or for an Uplink (UL) transmission on Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) or Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH), and wherein whether the at least one beam is used for monitoring the PDCCH or for the UL transmission is determined by the network node; and using the at least one beam for monitoring the PDCCH or for the UL transmission in the SCell.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the beam indication includes an indicator of SS Block (SSB) or Channel State Information Reference Signal (CSI-RS).
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the beam indication includes a cell index indicating that the beam indication is for the SCell.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the UL transmission includes at least one of Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) report transmission.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the UL transmission includes at least one scheduling request.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the UL transmission includes at least one Sounding Reference Signal (SRS).
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one beam is at least one network beam.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one beam is at least one UE beam.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the beam indication and SCell activation/deactivation signaling are transmitted together.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the beam indication and SCell activation/deactivation signaling are transmitted separately.
11 . A method for a network node, comprising:
configuring a User Equipment (UE) with at least a Primary Cell (PCell) and a Secondary Cell (SCell); transmitting a SCell activation/deactivation Medium Access Control (MAC) control element to activate the SCell; transmitting a beam indication by a MAC control element via the PCell, wherein the beam indication is used by the UE to derive at least one beam to be used in the SCell for Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH), or for an Uplink (UL) transmission on Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) or Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH); determining whether the at least one beam is used for the PDCCH or for the UL transmission; and using the at least one beam for the PDCCH or for the UL transmission in the SCell.
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the beam indication includes an indicator of SS Block (SSB) or Channel State Information Reference Signal (CSI-RS).
13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the beam indication includes a cell index indicating that the beam indication is for the SCell.
14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the UL transmission includes at least one of Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) report transmission.
15 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the UL transmission includes at least one scheduling request.
16 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the UL transmission includes at least one Sounding Reference Signal (SRS).
17 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the at least one beam is at least one network beam.
18 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the at least one beam is at least one UE beam.
19 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the beam indication and SCell activation/deactivation signaling are transmitted together.
20 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the beam indication and SCell activation/deactivation signaling are transmitted separately.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
