Abstract

In example embodiments, a system and method for providing item notifications is provided. A networked system receives, from a device of a user, a selection of an item from a list for monitoring. The network system also receives, from the device of the user, a condition that triggers the reporting of news for the selected item. The network system monitors for news for the selected item. A determination is made as to whether the condition that triggers the reporting of the news is satisfied. In response to determining that the condition that triggers the reporting of the news is satisfied, the networked system transmits a notification to the user indicating the news for the selected item.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 .- 20 . (canceled)

         21 . A system comprising:
 one or more hardware processors; and a storage device storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more hardware processors, causes the one or more hardware processors to perform operations comprising:
 receiving, from a device of a user, an image containing a plurality of items;
 parsing the received image to distinguishably identify each of the plurality of items;
 receiving, from the device of the user, a selection of an item from the parsed image for receiving a notification when the selected item is incorrectly identified;
 receiving, from the device of the user, a condition for triggering the notification that the selected item is incorrectly identified;
 determining, based on a change to the selected item, that the condition for triggering the notification is satisfied;
 transmitting the notification to the user; and
 automatically creating and publishing a listing to sell the selected item.

         2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein automatically creating and publishing the listing to sell the selected item further comprises:
 receiving an indication from the user to sell the selected item in response to determining the condition for triggering the notification is satisfied.

         3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:
 based on receiving an indication from the user to upgrade the selected item in response to the notification, providing a link to purchase the upgraded version of the selected item.

         4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise:
 receiving a request for an upgrade patch for the selected item in response to determining that the condition for triggering the notification is satisfied; and transmitting the notification with a link or a search result for the upgrade patch.

         5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the change comprises at least one of upgrades being available, plans for new versions or models of the selected item, new applications for the selected item, reported changes to the selected item, a retiring item related to the selected item, or a newly listed same item as that of the selected item.

         6 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the condition for triggering the notification comprises a relevancy condition for determining whether the change is insignificant, wherein an insignificant change is reported less frequently.

         7 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the condition for triggering the notification comprises a relevancy condition for determining whether the change is insignificant, wherein an insignificant change is prevented from being reported.

         8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the condition for triggering the notification comprises an indication of a type of information for satisfying the condition, wherein the type of information comprises one or more of an upgrade, a new model, a new application for the selected item, a new version of the selected item, a retiring piece related to the selected item, or a newly listed same item as the selected item.

         9 . A method comprising:
 receiving an image containing a plurality of items; parsing the received image to distinguishably identify each of the plurality of items; receiving a selection of an item from the parsed image for receiving a notification when the selected item is incorrectly identified; receiving a condition for triggering the notification that the selected item is incorrectly identified; determining, based on a change to the selected item, that the condition for triggering the notification is satisfied; transmitting the notification to a user; and automatically creating and publishing a listing to sell the selected item.

         10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein automatically creating and publishing the listing to sell the selected item further comprises:
 receiving an indication from the user to sell the selected item in response to determining the condition for triggering the notification is satisfied.

         11 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:
 based on receiving an indication from the user to upgrade the selected item in response to the notification, providing a link to purchase the upgraded version of the selected item.

         12 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:
 receiving a request for an upgrade patch for the selected item in response to determining that the condition for triggering the notification is satisfied; and transmitting the notification with a link or a search result for the upgrade patch.

         13 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the change comprises at least one of upgrades being available, plans for new versions or models of the selected item, new applications for the selected item, reported changes to the selected item, a retiring item related to the selected item, or a newly listed same item as that of the selected item.

         14 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the condition for triggering the notification comprises a relevancy condition for determining whether the change is insignificant, wherein an insignificant change is reported less frequently.

         15 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the condition for triggering the notification comprises a relevancy condition for determining whether the change is insignificant, wherein an insignificant change is prevented from being reported.

         16 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the condition for triggering the notification comprises an indication of a type of information for satisfying the condition, wherein the type of information comprises one or more of an upgrade, a new model, a new application for the selected item, a new version of the selected item, a retiring piece related to the selected item, or a newly listed same item as the selected item.

         17 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor of a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:
 receiving an image containing a plurality of items; parsing the received image to distinguishably identify each of the plurality of items; receiving a selection of an item from the parsed image for receiving a notification when the selected item is incorrectly identified; receiving a condition for triggering the notification that the selected item is incorrectly identified; determining, based on a change to the selected item, that the condition for triggering the notification is satisfied; transmitting the notification to a user; and automatically creating and publishing a listing to sell the selected item.

         18 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein automatically creating and publishing the listing to sell the selected item further comprises:
 receiving an indication from the user to sell the selected item in response to determining the condition for triggering the notification is satisfied.

         19 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the operations further comprise:
 based on receiving an indication from the user to upgrade the selected item in response to the notification, providing a link to purchase the upgraded version of the selected item.
