Indicating a network for a remote unit

Abstract

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for indicating a network for a remote unit. One method includes transmitting a first message including a first registration request from a remote unit. The method includes receiving a second message including a first indication of a network to which the remote unit belongs. The second message is received in response to transmitting the first message. The method includes transmitting a third message including a second registration request from the remote unit. The second registration request includes a second indication of the network to which the remote unit belongs, and the second indication is based on the first indication.

1 . A method of a radio access network node of a network, the method comprising:
 transmitting information indicating whether the network supports an access procedure for providing a user equipment with credentials;   in response to transmitting information indicating that the network supports the access procedure, receiving a request message from the user equipment for initiation of the access procedure; and   initiating the access procedure.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the information is broadcasted. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the information is broadcasted in a system information block or a master information block. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the information is used in the user equipment for a network selection procedure. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the access procedure comprises a network selection procedure and a registration procedure. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein the registration procedure comprises a restricted registration procedure for an internet of things user equipment. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the access procedure comprises an onboarding procedure. 
     
     
         8 . An apparatus comprising a radio access network node of a network, the apparatus further comprising:
 a transmitter that transmits information indicating whether the network supports an access procedure for providing a user equipment with credentials;   a receiver that, in response to transmitting information indicating that the network supports the access procedure, receives a request message from the user equipment for initiation of the access procedure; and   a processor that initiates the access procedure.   
     
     
         9 . The apparatus of  claim 8 , wherein the information is broadcasted in a system information block or a master information block. 
     
     
         10 . The apparatus of  claim 8 , wherein the information is used in the user equipment for a network selection procedure. 
     
     
         11 . The apparatus of  claim 8 , wherein the access procedure comprises a network selection procedure and a registration procedure. 
     
     
         12 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , wherein the registration procedure comprises a restricted registration procedure for an internet of things user equipment. 
     
     
         13 . The apparatus of  claim 8 , wherein the access procedure comprises an onboarding procedure. 
     
     
         14 . An apparatus comprising a user equipment, the apparatus further comprising:
 a receiver that receives information indicating whether a network supports an access procedure that provides the user equipment with credentials; and   a transmitter that, in response to receiving information indicating that the network supports the access procedure:
 selects the network as an onboarding network; and 
 transmits a registration request message to the onboarding network. 
   
     
     
         15 . The apparatus of  claim 14 , wherein the information is received via a broadcast from a radio access network node. 
     
     
         16 . The apparatus of  claim 14 , wherein the information is received via a broadcast in a system information block or a master information block. 
     
     
         17 . The apparatus of  claim 14 , wherein the registration request message comprises an indication that an access corresponding to the access procedure is to provide credentials to the user equipment. 
     
     
         18 . The apparatus of  claim 14 , wherein the access procedure comprises a network selection and a registration procedure. 
     
     
         19 . The apparatus of  claim 18 , wherein the registration procedure comprises a restricted registration procedure for an internet of things user equipment. 
     
     
         20 . The apparatus of  claim 14 , wherein the access procedure comprises an onboarding procedure.
