Abstract

Some embodiments provide a method for automatically generating an appointment for an electronic calendar. The method receives input to create a new appointment for the calendar. The method analyzes several previous appointments stored for the first calendar. Based on the analysis, the method automatically proposes a new appointment that has at least one appointment characteristic shared with at least one past appointment stored for the calendar. In some embodiments, the method receives text input describing a characteristic of the new appointment, and searches through the previous appointments using the text input.

1 . (canceled)

2 . An electronic device, comprising:
a display; one or more processors; and memory storing one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for:
 displaying, via the display, a user interface comprising notifications of one or more proposed appointments for which a user of a calendar application is a proposed attendee;
receiving a set of one or more inputs corresponding to an option to decline one of the one or more proposed appointments; and
in response to the set of one or more inputs and prior to sending a communication to an organizer of the one of the one or more proposed appointments that is declined, providing a text field for receiving a textual comment regarding the one of the one or more proposed appointments that is declined.

3 . The electronic device of claim 2 , further including instructions for:
receiving input to complete calendar activities in the user interface; and sending a communication to the organizer of the one of the one or more proposed appointments in response to the input to complete calendar activities.

4 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the one of the one or more proposed appointments that is declined is a first proposed appointment, the one or more programs further including instructions for:
receiving input to accept a second proposed appointment of the one or more proposed appointments.

5 . The electronic device of claim 4 , wherein no communication is sent regarding either the first or second proposed appointments until additional input is received indicating that user activities are completed for the user interface.

6 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the one of the one or more proposed appointments that is declined is a first proposed appointment, the one or more programs further including instructions for:
prior to sending the communication, receiving input to respond to a second proposed appointment of the one or more proposed appointments.

7 . The electronic device of claim 6 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:
in response to the input to respond to the second proposed appointment, providing a second text field for receiving a textual comment regarding the second proposed appointment.

8 . The electronic device of claim 7 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:
receiving input to complete calendar activities in the user interface; and sending (i) a first communication to an organizer of the first proposed appointment and (ii) a second communication to an organizer of the second proposed appointment.

9 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:
receiving text input for the text field; receiving input to complete calendar activities in the user interface; and sending a communication to the organizer of the one of the one or more proposed appointments that is declined, the communication comprising the text input as a comment regarding the one of the proposed appointments that is declined.

10 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the one or more programs further include instructions for:
receiving a set of one or more inputs to respond to a plurality of different proposed appointments, wherein no communication is sent regarding any of the plurality of different proposed appointments prior to receiving input to complete activities in the user interface.

11 . The electronic device of claim 10 , wherein the set of one or more inputs to respond to the plurality of different proposed appointments comprises an input declining a first proposed appointment of the one or more proposed appointments, an input accepting a second proposed appointment of the one or more proposed appointments, and an input responding as undecided to a third proposed appointment of the one or more proposed appointments.

12 . A computer-readable medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of an electronic device that is in communication with a display, the one or more programs including instructions for:
displaying, via the display, a user interface comprising notifications of one or more proposed appointments for which a user of a calendar application is a proposed attendee; receiving a set of one or more inputs corresponding to an option to decline one of the one or more proposed appointments; and in response to the set of one or more inputs and prior to sending a communication to an organizer of the one of the one or more proposed appointments that is declined, providing a text field for receiving a textual comment regarding the one of the one or more proposed appointments that is declined.

         13 . A method, comprising:
at an electronic device having a display:
