Abstract
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus, systems, computer program products for displaying textual information for a topic found in technical documentation for an item via an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM) configured to provide electronic and credentialed access to the technical documentation via an IETM viewer. In one embodiment, a method is provided comprising: receiving a selection of the topic to view the information; and responsive to receiving the selection: identifying a security classification attribute for the information from metadata; identifying a display format for the information based on the security classification attribute; determining an availability to view the information based on the security classification attribute and a security level of a user; and providing a window for display, wherein the information is presented on the window using the first display format and the information is available or not to view based on the availability.

A method for displaying textual information for a topic found in technical documentation for an item via an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM) configured to provide electronic and credentialed access to the technical documentation for the item via an IETM viewer, the method comprising:
receiving input of a selection of the topic to view the textual information for the topic made by a user signed into the IETM, wherein the selection of the topic is performed by the user via the IETM viewer executing on a user computing entity; and responsive to receiving the input of the selection of the topic:
identifying a security classification attribute for the textual information from metadata associated with the textual information;
identifying a display format for the textual information based at least in part on the security classification attribute;
determining an availability to view the textual information for the topic based at least in part on the security classification attribute and a security level of the user; and
providing a window for display via the IETM viewer, wherein the textual information for the topic is presented on the window using the first display format and the textual information is available or is not available to view by the user on the window based at least in part on the availability to view determined for the textual information.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the display format for the textual information comprises a border for the textual information and a title identifying the security classification attribute for the textual information.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the security classification attribute for the textual information identifies at least one of unclassified, classified, secret, and top secret.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the window comprises media content associated with the text information and the method further comprises:
identifying a security classification attribute for the media content from metadata associated with the media content; identifying a display format for the media content based at least in part on the security classification attribute for the media content; determining an availability to view the media content on the window based at least in part on the security classification attribute for the media content and the security level of the user; and providing the media content for display via the window using the second display format so that the media content is available or is not available to view by the user on the window based at least in part on the availability to view the media content.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the security classification attribute for the textual information and the security classification attribute for the media content are different and the display format for the textual information and the display format for the media content are different.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the display format for the textual information comprises a border for the textual information in a first color and the display format for the media content comprises a border for the media content in a second, different color.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the textual information for the topic is available to view on the window and comprises a selectable mechanism to view textual information for a second topic, and the method further comprises:
identifying a security classification attribute for the textual information for the second topic from metadata associated with the textual information for the second topic; and determining an availability to select the selectable mechanism on the window based at least in part on the security classification attribute for the textual information for the second topic and the security level of the user, wherein the selectable mechanism for the textual information for the second topic is presented on the window as selectable by the user based at least in part on the availability to select determined for the selectable mechanism.
8 . An apparatus for displaying textual information for a topic found in technical documentation for an item via an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM) configured to provide electronic and credentialed access to the technical documentation for the item via an IETM viewer, the apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory including a computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to:
receive input of a selection of the topic to view the textual information for the topic made by a user signed into the IETM, wherein the selection of the topic is performed by the user via the IETM viewer executing on a user computing entity; and responsive to receiving the input of the selection of the topic:
identify a security classification attribute for the textual information from metadata associated with the textual information;
identify a display format for the textual information based at least in part on the security classification attribute;
determine an availability to view the textual information for the topic based at least in part on the security classification attribute and a security level of the user; and
provide a window for display via the IETM viewer, wherein the textual information for the topic is presented on the window using the first display format and the textual information is available or is not available to view by the user on the window based at least in part on the availability to view determined for the textual information.
9 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the display format for the textual information comprises a border for the textual information and a title identifying the security classification attribute for the textual information.
10 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the security classification attribute for the textual information identifies at least one of unclassified, classified, secret, and top secret.
11 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the window comprises media content associated with the text information and the at least one memory and the computer program code are configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to:
identify a security classification attribute for the media content from metadata associated with the media content; identify a display format for the media content based at least in part on the security classification attribute for the media content; determine an availability to view the media content on the window based at least in part on the security classification attribute for the media content and the security level of the user; and provide the media content for display via the window using the second display format so that the media content is available or is not available to view by the user on the window based at least in part on the availability to view the media content.
12 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the security classification attribute for the textual information and the security classification attribute for the media content are different and the display format for the textual information and the display format for the media content are different.
13 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the display format for the textual information comprises a border for the textual information in a first color and the display format for the media content comprises a border for the media content in a second, different color.

The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the textual information for the topic is available to view on the window and comprises a selectable mechanism to view textual information for a second topic, and the at least one memory and the computer program code are configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to:
identify a security classification attribute for the textual information for the second topic from metadata associated with the textual information for the second topic; and determine an availability to select the selectable mechanism on the window based at least in part on the security classification attribute for the textual information for the second topic and the security level of the user, wherein the selectable mechanism for the textual information for the second topic is presented on the window as selectable by the user based at least in part on the availability to select determined for the selectable mechanism.
15 . A non-transitory computer storage medium comprising instructions for displaying textual information for a topic found in technical documentation for an item via an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM) configured to provide electronic and credentialed access to the technical documentation for the item via an IETM viewer, the instructions being configured to cause one or more processors to at least perform operations configured to:
receive input of a selection of the topic to view the textual information for the topic made by a user signed into the IETM, wherein the selection of the topic is performed by the user via the IETM viewer executing on a user computing entity; and responsive to receiving the input of the selection of the topic:
identify a security classification attribute for the textual information from metadata associated with the textual information;
identify a display format for the textual information based at least in part on the security classification attribute;
determine an availability to view the textual information for the topic based at least in part on the security classification attribute and a security level of the user; and
provide a window for display via the IETM viewer, wherein the textual information for the topic is presented on the window using the first display format and the textual information is available or is not available to view by the user on the window based at least in part on the availability to view determined for the textual information.
16 . The non-transitory computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the display format for the textual information comprises a border for the textual information and a title identifying the security classification attribute for the textual information.
17 . The non-transitory computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the security classification attribute for the textual information identifies at least one of unclassified, classified, secret, and top secret.
18 . The non-transitory computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the window comprises media content associated with the text information and the instructions are configured to cause the one or more processors to at least perform operations configured to:
identify a security classification attribute for the media content from metadata associated with the media content; identify a display format for the media content based at least in part on the security classification attribute for the media content; determine an availability to view the media content on the window based at least in part on the security classification attribute for the media content and the security level of the user; and provide the media content for display via the window using the second display format so that the media content is available or is not available to view by the user on the window based at least in part on the availability to view the media content.

The non-transitory computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the security classification attribute for the textual information and the security classification attribute for the media content are different and the display format for the textual information and the display format for the media content are different.
20 . The non-transitory computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the display format for the textual information comprises a border for the textual information in a first color and the display format for the media content comprises a border for the media content in a second, different color.

The non-transitory computer storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the textual information for the topic is available to view on the window and comprises a selectable mechanism to view textual information for a second topic, and the instructions are configured to cause the one or more processors to at least perform operations configured to:
