Follow-Up Messages After In-Store Shopping
Abstract
Example embodiments of the present disclosure include a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a computer-implemented method for provisioning follow up messages to individuals after an in-store retail shopping experience. Consistent with some embodiments, the method may include identifying an item of interest to an individual while in a retail store. The method may further include detecting the individual leaving the retails store, and in response to the individual leaving the retail store, transmitting a message to a mobile device of the individual to remind the individual of the item of interest.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A system comprising:
a camera; one or more hardware processors; and a machine-readable medium storing instructions that are executable by the one or more hardware processors to perform operations comprising:
identifying, based on one or more images received from the camera, an item picked up by an individual in a physical environment;
identifying the individual and monitoring the individual interacting with the item;
detecting, as part of monitoring the individual interacting with the item, movement of the item to a designated area of the physical environment and automatically processing a purchase of the item by the individual responsive to detecting the item in the designated area of the physical environment;
generating a message describing the purchase of the item; and
transmitting the message to a computer device disposed with the individual in response to detecting the individual leaving the physical environment.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein identifying the item picked up by the individual in the physical environment comprises receiving an identifier of the item from a tag designed to electronically communicate the identifier of the item.
3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein identifying the individual comprises authenticating the individual using facial recognition on image data captured by the camera.
4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein identifying the individual comprises receiving information provided by the computer device disposed with the individual.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the designated area of the physical environment comprises a location at least partially enclosed by fixed boundaries in the physical environment.
6 . The system of claim 1 , the operations further comprising updating user data maintained as part of a user account for the individual responsive to automatically processing the purchase of the item, the updated user data describing the purchase of the item.
7 . The system of claim 1 , the operations further comprising detecting the individual interacting with at least one additional item prior to detecting the individual leaving the physical environment, wherein generating the message comprises including information describing the at least one additional item in the message.
8 . A method comprising:
identifying an item picked up by an individual in a physical environment based on image data received from a camera; identifying the individual and monitoring the individual interacting with the item using the image data received from the camera; detecting, as part of monitoring the individual interacting with the item, movement of the item to a designated area of the physical environment and automatically processing a purchase of the item by the individual responsive to detecting the item in the designated area of the physical environment; generating a message describing the purchase of the item; and transmitting the message to a computer device disposed with the individual in response to detecting the individual leaving the physical environment.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein identifying the item picked up by the individual in the physical environment comprises receiving an identifier of the item from a tag designed to electronically communicate the identifier of the item.
10 . The method of claim 8 , wherein identifying the individual comprises authenticating the individual using facial recognition on the image data received from the camera.
11 . The method of claim 8 , wherein identifying the individual comprises receiving information provided by the computer device disposed with the individual.
12 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the designated area of the physical environment comprises a location enclosed by fixed boundaries in the physical environment.
13 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising updating user data maintained as part of a user account for the individual responsive to automatically processing the purchase of the item, the updated user data describing the purchase of the item.
14 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising detecting the individual interacting with at least one additional item prior to detecting the individual leaving the physical environment, wherein generating the message comprises including information describing the at least one additional item in the message.
15 . A computer-readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that are executable by one or more computing devices to perform operations comprising:
identifying an item picked up by an individual in a physical environment based on image data received from a camera; identifying the individual and monitoring the individual interacting with the item using the image data received from the camera; detecting, as part of monitoring the individual interacting with the item, movement of the item to a designated area of the physical environment and automatically processing a purchase of the item by the individual responsive to detecting the item in the designated area of the physical environment; generating a message describing the purchase of the item; and transmitting the message to a computer device disposed with the individual in response to detecting the individual leaving the physical environment.
16 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein identifying the item picked up by the individual in the physical environment comprises receiving an identifier of the item from a tag designed to electronically communicate the identifier of the item.
17 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein identifying the individual comprises authenticating the individual using facial recognition on the image data received from the camera.
18 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein identifying the individual comprises receiving information provided by the computer device disposed with the individual.
19 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the designated area of the physical environment comprises a location enclosed by fixed boundaries in the physical environment.
20 . The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , the operations further comprising updating user data maintained as part of a user account for the individual responsive to automatically processing the purchase of the item, the updated user data describing the purchase of the item.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
