Abstract
A method of treating a bacterial infection of a subject includes topically administering a topical composition that includes cefixime combined with a carrier. The topical composition may be administered by contacting a tissue surface of the subject to be treated with the topical composition such as skin or mucosal tissue.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A topical nail composition for topically administering to a nail to treat a bacterial nail infection comprising:
dibasic calcium phosphate, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, pregelatinized starch, titanium dioxide, triacetin, an antibacterial agent consisting of cefixime and nitrofurantoin, and a carrier comprising an ointment, cream, gel, or lotion, wherein the cefixime is present in a dosage amount between approximately 200 mg and approximately 400 mg, wherein the nitrofurantoin is present in a dosage amount between approximately 25 mg and approximately 250 mg, and wherein the and the topical composition has an ointment, cream, gel, or lotion format.
2 . The topical nail composition of claim 1 , wherein the cefixime is present in a dosage amount of approximately 400 mg.
3 . The topical nail composition of claim 1 , wherein the nitrofurantoin is present in a dosage amount between approximately 150 mg and approximately 200 mg.
4 . The topical nail composition of claim 1 , further comprising carboxymethylcellulose sodium, anhydrous citric acid, glycerin, magnesium aluminum silicate, methylparaben, flavoring, propylparaben, purified water, saccharin sodium, sodium citrate, and sorbitol.
5 . The topical nail composition of claim 4 , wherein the cefixime is present in a dosage amount of approximately 400 mg.
6 . A topical nail composition for topically administering to a nail to treat a bacterial nail infection comprising:
cefixime, nitrofurantoin, dibasic calcium phosphate, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, pregelatinized starch, titanium dioxide, triacetin, and an aqueous sodium chloride solution, wherein the cefixime is present in a dosage amount between approximately 200 mg and approximately 400 mg, and wherein the nitrofurantoin is present in a dosage amount between approximately 25 mg and approximately 250 mg.
7 . The topical nail composition of claim 6 , wherein the cefixime is present in a dosage amount of approximately 400 mg.
8 . The topical nail composition of claim 6 , wherein the nitrofurantoin is present in a dosage amount between approximately 150 mg and approximately 200 mg.
9 . The topical nail composition of claim 6 , further comprising carboxymethylcellulose sodium, anhydrous citric acid, glycerin, magnesium aluminum silicate, methylparaben, flavoring, propylparaben, purified water, saccharin sodium, sodium citrate, and sorbitol.
10 . The topical nail composition of claim 9 , wherein the cefixime is present in a dosage amount of approximately 400 mg.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
