Abstract

The present invention discloses the use of RNA inhibitory molecules, particularly siRNA molecules silencing the expression of Voltage-Dependent Ion Chanel-1 (VDAC1) for the induction of cancer stem cell differentiation and reduction of TAMS abundance and tumor angiogenesis, thereby preventing tumor invention and recurrence.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A voltage dependent anion channel 1 (VDAC1)-silencing oligonucleotide comprising the nucleic acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:10.

2 . The VDAC1-silencing oligonucleotide of claim 1 , wherein said VDAC1-silencing oligonucleotide consists of the nucleic acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:10.

3 . The VDAC1-silencing oligonucleotide of claim 1 , wherein said VDAC1-silencing oligonucleotide is a double stranded (ds) RNA molecule comprising a first oligonucleotide having the nucleic acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:10 and a second oligonucleotide essentially complementary thereto.

4 . The VDAC1-silencing oligonucleotide of claim 3 , wherein said VDAC1-silencing oligonucleotide is a double stranded (ds) RNA molecule comprising a first oligonucleotide having the nucleic acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:10 and a second oligonucleotide having the nucleic acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:13.

5 . The VDAC1-silencing oligonucleotide of claim 4 , wherein said VDAC1-silencing oligonucleotide is a double stranded (ds) RNA molecule comprising a first oligonucleotide consisting of the nucleic acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:10 and a second oligonucleotide consisting of the nucleic acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:13.

         6 . A construct comprising the VDAC-1 silencing oligonucleotide of claim 1 .
