Abstract

Methods and apparatus to orchestrate infrastructure installation of a hybrid system are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a first virtual appliance including a management endpoint. The first virtual appliance is to organize tasks to be executed to install a computing infrastructure. The example apparatus includes a first component server to execute tasks. The component server includes a management agent to communicate with the management endpoint to receive a task to be executed to install the computing infrastructure. The first virtual appliance is to associate a role with the first component server and to determine whether the first component server satisfies a prerequisite associated with the role. The first virtual appliance is to facilitate addressing an error when the first component server is determined not to satisfy the prerequisite.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

 memory; instructions; and a processor to execute the instructions to at least:
 organize tasks in a queue to be executed to at least one of install or configure a computing infrastructure, the queue including at least a first task and a second task;
 evaluate one or more prerequisites associated with a role for execution of the first task to identify an error;
 when the error is identified with respect to at least one of the one or more prerequisites, create a recovery point based on a configuration;
 facilitate resolution of the error, the resolution of the error including, when the resolution is successful, an adjustment of the configuration associated with the role, and, when the resolution is unsuccessful, a restoration of the configuration based on the recovery point;
 when the resolution is successful, evaluate whether a dependency associated with the first task is satisfied or unsatisfied;
 when the dependency is satisfied, deploy the first task from the queue for execution; and
 when the dependency is unsatisfied, deploy the second task for execution, the second task having no unsatisfied dependency, and hold deployment of the first task for execution until the unsatisfied dependency becomes satisfied.

         2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the recovery point includes a snapshot of the configuration associated with the at least one of install or configure of the computing infrastructure.

         3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the processor is to evaluate whether the dependency associated with the first task is satisfied or unsatisfied when triggered by a poll from a device.

         4 . The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein, when the dependency is satisfied, the first task is to be deployed to the device to execute the first task.

         5 . The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the device includes a component server.

         6 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first task includes at least one of installation or configuration of a service.

         7 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the tasks in the queue are arranged to be distributed to a plurality of devices in a distributed environment.

         8 . The apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the processor is located in a centralized location in the distributed environment.

         9 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the queue further includes a third task, the third task dependent on the first task, wherein the third task is to be held in the queue until the first task is complete.

         10 . A computer readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed, cause a processor to at least:
 evaluate a prerequisite associated with a role for execution of a first task in a queue to identify an error, the queue including at least the first task and a second task to be executed to at least one of install or configure a computing infrastructure; when the error is identified with respect to the prerequisite, create a recovery point based on a configuration; facilitate resolution of the error, the resolution of the error including, when the resolution is successful, an adjustment of the configuration associated with the role, and, when the resolution is unsuccessful, a restoration of the configuration based on the recovery point; when the resolution is successful, evaluate whether a dependency associated with the first task is satisfied or unsatisfied; when the dependency is satisfied, deploy the first task from the queue for execution; and when the dependency is unsatisfied, deploy the second task for execution and hold deployment of the first task for execution until the unsatisfied dependency becomes satisfied.

         11 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the recovery point includes a snapshot of the configuration associated with the at least one of install or configure of the computing infrastructure.

         12 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor to evaluate whether the dependency associated with the first task is satisfied or unsatisfied when triggered by a poll from a device.

         13 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the first task includes at least one of installation or configuration of a service.

         14 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the queue further includes a third task, the third task dependent on the first task, and wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor to hold the third task in the queue until the first task is complete.

         15 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor to facilitate resolution of the error by at least one of a) automatically fixing the error to satisfy the prerequisite or b) facilitating data entry to resolve the error.

         16 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor to confirm resolution of the error.

         17 . A method comprising:
 evaluating, by executing an instruction with a processor, a prerequisite associated with a role for execution of a first task in a queue to identify an error, the queue including at least the first task and a second task to be executed to at least one of install or configure a computing infrastructure; when the error is identified with respect to the prerequisite, saving, by executing an instruction with the processor, a recovery point based on a configuration; facilitating, by executing an instruction with the processor, resolution of the error, the resolution of the error including, when the resolution is successful, an adjustment of the configuration associated with the role, and, when the resolution is unsuccessful, a restoration of the configuration from the recovery point; when the resolution is successful, evaluating, by executing an instruction with respect to the processor, whether a dependency associated with the first task is satisfied or unsatisfied; when the dependency is satisfied, deploying, by executing an instruction with respect to the processor, the first task from the queue for execution; and when the dependency is unsatisfied, deploying, by executing an instruction with respect to the processor, the second task for execution and holding deployment of the first task for execution until the unsatisfied dependency becomes satisfied.

         18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein evaluating whether the dependency associated with the first task is satisfied or unsatisfied is triggered by a poll from a device, the device to execute the first task when the first task is deployed.

         19 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the queue further includes a third task, the third task dependent on the first task, and wherein the method further includes holding the third task in the queue until the first task is complete.
