Abstract

A long-bristled brush has a handle, a base, and a set of bristles. The handle is ergonomically designed to facilitate extended usage by individuals with both large and small hands. The base is a rigid connector platform that has a flat portion and a curved portion with the flat portion being used to accommodate larger hands than the curved portion. The base is connected in between the handle and the bristles to enable a user to manipulate the long-bristled brush when performing cleaning operations. Each of the bristles is designed to resist plastic deformation and thus includes a bristle body and a reinforcement insert. The reinforcement insert is a semirigid rod that is integrated into the bristle body so that the bristles return to a substantially straight configuration after being bent. The long-bristled brush employs these components to clean hard-to-reach places on a vehicle or other device.

Claims

What is claimed is:

         1 . A brush comprising:
 a handle; a base; a plurality of bristles; each of the plurality of bristles comprising a bristle body and a reinforcement insert; the handle being mounted adjacent to the base; a fixed end of the bristle body being mounted adjacent to the base, opposite to the handle; the reinforcement insert being integrated into the bristle body; and the reinforcement insert being oriented along a longitudinal axis of the bristle body.

         2 . The brush as claimed in claim 1 comprising:
 the handle comprising an arched support; and
 the base being connected in between a first end and a second end of the arched support.

         3 . The brush as claimed in claim 2 comprising:
 the handle further comprising a plurality of ridges;
 the plurality of ridges being laterally connected to the arched support; and
 the plurality of ridges being positioned in between the arched support and the base.

         4 . The brush as claimed in claim 1 comprising:
 a textured liner; and
 the textured liner being superimposed onto the handle.

         5 . The brush as claimed in claim 1 comprising:
 the base comprising a contoured platform and at least one bristle receptacle;
 the bristle receptacle normally traversing into the contoured platform; and
 the plurality of bristles being mounted within the bristle receptacle.

         6 . The brush as claimed in claim 5 comprising:
 the contoured platform comprising a curved portion and a flat portion; and
 the curved portion being positioned adjacent to the flat portion.

         7 . The brush as claimed in claim 1 comprising:
 each of the plurality of bristles further comprising a frayed tip; and
 the frayed tip being connected to a free end of the bristle body.

         8 . The brush as claimed in claim 1 comprising:
 each of the plurality of bristles further comprising an external lamination; and
 the external lamination being superimposed onto the bristle body.

         9 . The brush as claimed in claim 1 wherein the plurality of bristles flaring outward from the base.

         10 . A brush comprising:
 a handle; a base; a plurality of bristles; each of the plurality of bristles comprising a bristle body and a reinforcement insert; the handle comprising an arched support; the handle being mounted adjacent to the base; a fixed end of the bristle body being mounted adjacent to the base, opposite to the handle; the reinforcement insert being integrated into the bristle body; the reinforcement insert being oriented along a longitudinal axis of the bristle body; and the base being connected in between a first end and a second end of the arched support.

         11 . The brush as claimed in claim 10 comprising:
 the handle further comprising a plurality of ridges;
 the plurality of ridges being laterally connected to the arched support; and
 the plurality of ridges being positioned in between the arched support and the base.

         12 . The brush as claimed in claim 10 comprising:
 a textured liner; and
 the textured liner being superimposed onto the handle.

         13 . The brush as claimed in claim 10 comprising:
 the base comprising a contoured platform and at least one bristle receptacle;
 the bristle receptacle normally traversing into the contoured platform; and
 the plurality of bristles being mounted within the bristle receptacle.

         14 . The brush as claimed in claim 13 comprising:
 the contoured platform comprising a curved portion and a flat portion; and
 the curved portion being positioned adjacent to the flat portion.

         15 . The brush as claimed in claim 10 comprising:
 each of the plurality of bristles further comprising a frayed tip; and
