Abstract

The present disclosure provides methods for the treatment of infections with Mycobacterium such as tuberculosis or leprosy.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of treating an infection with a  Mycobacterium  in a subject comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of one or more compounds selected from: 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
         or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. 
       
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, are administered in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier to form a pharmaceutical composition. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds includes a compound of Formula I. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds includes a compound of Formula II. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds includes a compound of Formula III. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds includes a compound of Formula IV. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds includes a compound of Formula V. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds includes a compound of Formula VI. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds includes a compound of Formula VII. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds includes a compound of Formula VIII. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds includes a compound of Formula IX. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds includes a compound of Formula X. 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the infection comprises tuberculosis. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the infection is caused by  Mycobacterium africanum, Mycobacterium bovis, Mycobacterium canetti, Mycobacterium caprae, Mycobacterium microti, Mycobacterium mungi, Mycobacterium orygis, Mycobacterium pinnipedii, Mycobacterium suricattae , or  Mycobacterium tuberculosis.    
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the infection comprises leprosy. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the infection is caused by  Mycobacterium leprae  or  Mycobacterium lepromatosis.    
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the infection is caused by  Mycobacterium avium, Mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis, Mycobacterium avium silvaticum, Mycobacterium avium hominissuis, Mycobacterium colombiense, Mycobacterium indicus pranii, Mycobacterium intracellulare, Mycobacterium ulcerans, Mycobacterium marinum, Mycobacterium kansasii, Mycobacterium abscessus, Mycobacterium chelonae, Mycobacterium fortuitum, mycobacterium terrae, Mycobacterium xenopi , and  Mycobacterium simiae.    
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds is administered in combination or alternation with an additional therapeutic agent selected from ethambutol, isoniazid, pyrazinamide, rifampicin, streptomycin, acedapsone, clofazimine, dapsone, desoxyfructo-serotonin, ethionamide, rifapentine, sulfameter, thalidomide, or combinations thereof. 
     
     
         19 . A method for killing one or more  Mycobacterium  cells comprising administering an effective amount of one or more compounds selected from Formula I, Formula II, Formula III, Formula IV, Formula V, Formula VI, Formula VII, Formula VIII, Formula IX, Formula X, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, prodrug, or ester thereof. 
     
     
         20 . A method for inhibiting the growth of one or more  Mycobacterium  cells comprising administering an effective amount of one or more compounds selected from Formula I, Formula II, Formula III, Formula IV, Formula V, Formula VI, Formula VII, Formula VIII, Formula IX, Formula X, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, prodrug, or ester thereof.
