Abstract
The present disclosure provides various methods and embodiments for ordering grocery items. When a customer places a grocery request, the system determines whether the grocery items will be available at the customer-selected fulfillment time and, if so, will schedule delivery of the items. Various other methods to assure complete fulfillment of customer orders are provided herein.

1 . A computer-implemented method to fulfill grocery items ordered by a customer, the method comprising:
displaying, by a graphical user interface of a customer computer device, a list of grocery items whereby a customer can select one or more food items the customer indicates are to be fulfilled; transmitting the grocery items selected by the customer over a communications network to a processor; responsive to a determination, by the processor, that any of the food items are not available, transmitting one or more substitution food items to the customer computer device over the communications network; responsive to customer acceptance of the substitution food items, scheduling delivery of the substitution food items; and delivering the substitution food items to the customer.
2 . The computer-implemented method as defined in claim 1 , wherein transmitting the grocery items further comprises transmitting a request for a meal bundle which includes data related to a first food item and a second food item the customer indicates are to be fulfilled together.
3 . The computer-implemented method as defined in claim 1 , wherein:
transmitting the grocery items to the processor further comprises transmitting one or more customer preferred substitution items to the processor, the customer preferred substitution items being selected by the customer using the graphical user interface; and the substitution food items transmitted to the customer computer are selected, by the processor, from the customer preferred substitution items.
4 . The computer-implemented method as defined in claim 1 , wherein delivering the food items comprises:
determining a geo-position of the customer; and using the geo-position of the customer to deliver the food times to the customer.
5 . A computer-implemented method to fulfill grocery items ordered by a customer, the method comprising:
displaying, by a graphical user interface of a customer computer device, a list of grocery items whereby a customer can select one or more food items the customer indicates are to be fulfilled; transmitting the grocery items selected by the customer over a communications network to a processor; responsive to a determination, by the processor, that any of the food items are not available, transmitting an electronic alert to the customer computer device that any one of the foods items is not available; responsive to customer acceptance of any of the food items, scheduling delivery of the available food items; and delivering the available food items to the customer.
6 . The computer-implemented method as defined in claim 5 , wherein the electronic alert is an indicator on the graphical user interface or a text message.
7 . The computer-implemented method as defined in claim 5 , wherein transmitting the grocery items to the processor further comprises transmitting a one or more customer preferred items to the processor, the customer preferred items being selected by the customer using the graphical user interface.
8 . The computer-implemented method as defined in claim 5 , wherein transmitting the grocery items to the processor further comprises transmitting a one or more customer preferred substitution items to the processor, the customer preferred substitution items being selected by the customer using the graphical user interface.
9 . The computer-implemented method as defined in claim 5 , wherein delivering the food items comprises:
determining a geo-position of the customer; and using the geo-position of the customer to deliver the food times to the customer.
10 . The computer-implemented method as defined in claim 5 , wherein determining whether the food items are available comprises:
determining whether a customer-specified food brand is available at the merchant location; or determining whether a customer-specified food category is available at the merchant location.
11 . The computer-implemented method as defined in claim 5 , wherein transmitting the grocery items further comprises transmitting a request for a meal bundle which includes data related to a first food item and a second food item the customer indicates are to be fulfilled together.
12 . A computer-implemented method to fulfill grocery items ordered by a customer, the method comprising:
displaying, by a graphical user interface of a customer computer device, a list of grocery items whereby a customer can select one or more food items; transmitting the grocery items selected by the customer over a communications network to a processor; and responsive to a determination, by the processor, that any one of the food items are available, delivering the available food items to the customer via an automobile or drone.
13 . The computer-implemented method as defined in claim 12 , wherein transmitting the grocery items further comprises transmitting a request for a meal bundle which includes data related to a first food item and a second food item the customer indicates are to be fulfilled together.
14 . The computer-implemented method as defined in claim 12 , wherein delivering the food items comprises:
determining a geo-position of the customer; and using the geo-position of the customer to deliver the food times to the customer.
15 . The computer-implemented method as defined in claim 12 , wherein determining whether the food items are available comprises:
determining whether a customer-specified food brand is available at the merchant location; or determining whether a customer-specified food category is available at the merchant location.
16 . A system, comprising:
a non-transitory memory; and one or more hardware processors coupled to the non-transitory memory and configured to read instructions from the non-transitory memory to cause the system to perform the operations of claim 1 .
17 . A system, comprising:
a non-transitory memory; and one or more hardware processors coupled to the non-transitory memory and configured to read instructions from the non-transitory memory to cause the system to perform the operations of claim 5 .
18 . A system, comprising:
a non-transitory memory; and one or more hardware processors coupled to the non-transitory memory and configured to read instructions from the non-transitory memory to cause the system to perform the operations of claim 12 .
19 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon machine-readable instructions executable to cause a machine to perform the operations of claim 1 .
