Collar support apparatus

Abstract

A collar support for use with a collared shirt. The collared shirt includes a collar having a stand and a flap. The collar support engages with the flap and the stand to properly position the collar. The collar support has a generally planar base, and a generally planar stay extending from the base at an acute angle, and a releasable adhesive coupled to the base. A releasable adhesive may also be coupled to the stay, and removable backers may be provided for the releasable adhesives.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A collar support for a shirt collar, comprising:
 a generally planar base having a generally trapezoidal shape, the base having a first side and a second side;   a generally planar stay extending from the base, the stay having a first side and a second side, and the stay being generally longitudinal in shape, wherein the first side of the stay extends from the first side of the base, and wherein the second side of the stay extends from the second side of the base;   a releasable adhesive coupled to the first side of the base; and,   a removable backer coupled to the releasable adhesive.   
     
     
         2 . The collar support of  claim 1 , further comprising a releasable adhesive coupled to the second side of the stay. 
     
     
         3 . The collar support of  claim 1 , further comprising a projection extending from the base, the projection having a first side extending from the first side of the base and a second side extending from the second side of the base, wherein the projection extends generally parallel to a top edge of the base. 
     
     
         4 . The collar support of  claim 1 , wherein the base is flexible. 
     
     
         5 . The collar support of  claim 1 , wherein the collar support is made of plastic sheet material. 
     
     
         6 . The collar support of  claim 1 , wherein the stay extends from the base at an acute angle to a top edge of the base. 
     
     
         7 . A collar support for a shirt collar, comprising:
 a generally planar base having a first side and a second side, and a top edge;   a generally planar stay extending from the base at an acute angle to the top edge, the stay having a first side and a second side, and the stay being generally longitudinal in shape, wherein the first side of the stay extends from the first side of the base, and wherein the second side of the stay extends from the second side of the base; and,   a releasable adhesive coupled to the first side of the base.   
     
     
         8 . The collar support of  claim 7 , further comprising a removable backer coupled to the releasable adhesive on the base. 
     
     
         9 . The collar support of  claim 7 , further comprising a releasable adhesive coupled to the second side of the stay. 
     
     
         10 . The collar support of  claim 9 , further comprising a removable backer coupled to the releasable adhesive on the stay. 
     
     
         11 . The collar support of  claim 7 , wherein the base has a generally trapezoidal shape. 
     
     
         12 . The collar support of  claim 7 , wherein the base is flexible. 
     
     
         13 . The collar support of  claim 7 , further comprising a projection extending from the base, the projection having a first side extending from the first side of the base and a second side extending from the second side of the base, wherein the projection extends generally parallel to the top edge of the base. 
     
     
         14 . A collar support for a shirt collar, comprising:
 a generally planar sheet carrier having a first side and a second side, the carrier supporting a first collar support and a second collar support, the first side of the carrier being the first side of the first collar support and the second collar support, the second side of the carrier being the second side of the first collar support and the second collar support, the first and second collar supports each having a base and a stay extending from the respective base at an acute angle to a top edge of the respective base, a releasable adhesive coupled to the first side of the base of the first collar support, and a releasable adhesive coupled to the second side of the base of the second collar support.   
     
     
         15 . The collar support of  claim 14 , further comprising a removable backer coupled to the releasable adhesive on the base of the first collar support, and another removable backer coupled to the releasable adhesive on the base of the second collar support. 
     
     
         16 . The collar support of  claim 14 , further comprising a releasable adhesive coupled to the stay of the first collar support at the second side thereof, and a releasable adhesive coupled to the stay of the second collar support at the first side thereof. 
     
     
         17 . The collar support of  claim 16 , further comprising removable backers coupled to the releasable adhesive on the stay of the first collar support and the releasable adhesive on the stay of the second collar support. 
     
     
         18 . The collar support of  claim 14 , wherein the sheet carrier is generally flexible. 
     
     
         19 . The collar support of  claim 14 , wherein the base of the first collar support and the base of the second collar support each have a generally trapezoidal shape. 
     
     
         20 . The collar support of  claim 14 , wherein the sheet carrier is scored or perforated around the first collar support and the second collar support.
