Abstract

The present technology pertains to a task managment system for map labeling tasks. The system can determine when one task is dependent on completion of another task and schedule those tasks accordingly. Further the system can ensure that tasks are completed with a proper priority and can track completion of these tasks. The present technology ensures sufficent work is completed to speed up map release versions.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method comprising:
 receiving an input indicating a project identifier and a type in a task management user interface;   presenting at least one task that matches the project identifier and task type, and that has a highest priority according to a prioritization logic, where the prioritization logic has prioritized a collection of tasks;   assigning the at least one task that matches the project identifier and task type, and that has the highest priority according to the prioritization logic to a user account.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , comprising:
 prior to the assigning the at least one task, receiving a selection of the at least one task presented that matches the project identifier and task type, and that has the highest priority according to a prioritization logic.   
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , comprising:
 prioritizing the collection of tasks, which include the at least one task, according to the prioritization logic, wherein the prioritization logic accounts for a hierarchy in vertical tasks and task dependencies to determine tasks that are subordinate to other tasks.   
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein the task management user interface is configured to manage map labeling tasks, and the task dependencies are based in part on a hierarchy of map minisection dependencies. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 3 , comprising:
 labeling the tasks that are subordinate to other tasks as queued and labeling other tasks as active.   
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , comprising:
 after the assigning the at least one task, providing data corresponding to the task and a tool set to complete the task in the task management user interface, wherein the tool set is specific to actions that correspond with the task assignment.   
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 5 , comprising:
 receiving an indication the that at least one task was completed;   marking the at least one task as completed;   removing the priority of the task such that it does not appear in a presentation of highest priority tasks; and   marking a task that is subordinate to the at least one task that was completed as activity such that it can appear in a presentation of the highest priority tasks.   
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , comprising:
 prior to assigning the at least one task to the user account, determining that the at least one task is not subordinate to a task previously handled by the user account.   
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1 , comprising:
 receiving an indication the that at least one task was completed;   performing an automatic quality assessment for the at least one task that was completed.   
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , comprising:
 prior to assigning the at least one task to the user account, determining that the at least one task is not subordinate to a task for which the automatic quality assessment is incomplete.   
     
     
         11 . A system for managing tasks in a map labeling project, comprising:
 a storage configured to store instructions;   a processor configured to execute the instructions and cause the processor to:   receive an input indicating a project identifier and a type in a task management user interface;   present at least one task that matches the project identifier and task type, and where the prioritization logic has prioritized a collection of tasks;   assign the at least one task that matches the project identifier and task type, and that has the highest priority according to the prioritization logic to a user account.   
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the processor is configured to execute the instructions and cause the processor to:
 prior to the assigning the at least one task, receive a selection of the at least one task presented that matches the project identifier and task type, and that has the highest priority according to a prioritization logic.   
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the processor is configured to execute the instructions and cause the processor to:
 after the assigning the at least one task , provide data corresponding to the task and a tool set to complete the task in the task management user interface, wherein the tool set is specific to actions that correspond with the task assignment.   
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein prior to assigning the at least one task to the user account, determining that the at least one task is not subordinate to a task previously handled by the user account. 
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the processor is configured to execute the instructions and cause the processor to:
 receive an indication the that at least one task was completed; and   perform an automatic quality assessment for the at least one task that was completed.   
     
     
         16 . A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions, the instructions, when executed by a computing system, cause the computing system to:
 receive an input indicating a project identifier and a type in a task management user interface;   present at least one task that matches the project identifier and task type, and where the prioritization logic has prioritized a collection of tasks;   assign the at least one task that matches the project identifier and task type, and that has the highest priority according to the prioritization logic to a user account.   
     
     
         17 . The computer readable medium of  claim 16 , wherein the computer readable medium further comprises instructions that, when executed by the computing system, cause the computing system to:
 prioritize the collection of tasks, according to the prioritization logic, wherein the prioritization logic accounts for a hierarchy in vertical tasks and task dependencies to determine tasks that are subordinate to other tasks.   
     
     
         18 . The computer readable medium of  claim 17 , the task management user interface is configured to manage map labeling tasks, and the task dependencies are based in part on a hierarchy of map minisection dependencies. 
     
     
         19 . The computer readable medium of  claim 17 , wherein the computer readable medium further comprises instructions that, when executed by the computing system, cause the computing system to:
 label the tasks that are subordinate to other tasks as queued and labeling other tasks as active.   
     
     
         20 . The computer readable medium of  claim 19 , wherein the computer readable medium further comprises instructions that, when executed by the computing system, cause the computing system to:
 receive an indication the that at least one task was completed;   mark the at least one task as completed;   remove the priority of the task such that it does not appear in a presentation of highest priority tasks; and   mark a task that is subordinate to the at least one task that was completed as activity such that it can appear in a presentation of the highest priority tasks.
