Stenciled grid independently backlit checkered gameboard
Abstract
Regular grid game board such as used for chess or checkers but with stencil filtered back lights used to indicate the dark and light semi-transparent game board regions in lieu of typical reflective game board coloring. This enables game play in dimly lit environments with the use of game board back lighting, but prevents eye strain with the configuration of back lighting for the dark game board regions only. It also enables the use of non traditional checkered colored patterns of similar brightness and hue on the game board, where the light squares are indicated by back lighting and the dark squares are indicated by the the absence of back lighting.
