Enhanced Computer Experience From Activity Prediction
Abstract
A user activity pattern may be ascertained using signal data from a set of computing devices. The activity pattern may be used to infer user intent with regards to a user interaction with a computing device or to predict a likely future action by the user. In one implementation, a set of computing devices is monitored to detect user activities using sensors associated with the computing devices. Activity features associated with the detected user activities are determined and used to identify an activity pattern based on a plurality of user activities having similar features. Examples of user activity patterns may include patterns based on time, location, content, or other context. The inferred user intent or predicted future actions may be used to provide improved user experiences, such as personalization, modifying functionality of user devices, or providing more efficient consumption of bandwidth or power.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . At least one computer-storage medium having computer usable instructions embodied thereon which, when executed by at least one processor, implement a method comprising:
accessing an inferred user activity pattern for a user, the inferred user activity pattern associated with how a user interacts with a user device and comprising a device usage-related feature and a context feature, wherein the inferred user activity pattern comprises an indication of a time of day for charging the user device; identifying both an amount of time remaining until the time of day for charging the user device and a mean consumption of battery energy; predicting a probable future activity event to occur at a predicted future time, wherein the probable future activity event comprises that the user device will exhaust battery power prior to the time of day for charging the user device; and providing, using the user device, an enhanced user experience based on the probable future activity event by causing presentation of a notification recommending that the user charge the user device.
2 . The at least one computer-storage medium of claim 1 , wherein causing presentation of the notification occurs responsive to a determination that the user is located at a location where the user has previously charged the user device.
3 . (canceled)
4 . The at least one computer-storage medium of claim 1 , the method further comprising receiving sensor data for predicting the probable future activity event.
5 . The at least one computer-storage medium of claim 4 , wherein the sensor data is provided from a sensor associated with the user device.
6 . The at least one computer-storage medium of claim 5 , wherein the enhanced user experience is provided at least in part using a second user device.
7 . The at least one computer-storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the probable future activity event comprises a sequence of user actions.
8 . The at least one computer-storage medium of claim 4 , wherein the sensor data comprises one or more of location-related data, time-related data, usage-related data, or data about the user.
9 . A system comprising:
at least one processor; and at least one computer-storage medium having computer usable instructions embodied thereon which, when executed by the at least one processor, implement a method comprising:
accessing an inferred user activity pattern for a user, the inferred user activity pattern associated with how a user interacts with a user device and comprising a device usage-related feature and a context feature, wherein the inferred user activity pattern comprises an indication of a time of day for charging the user device;
identifying both an amount of time remaining until the time of day for charging the user device and a mean consumption of battery energy;
predicting a probable future activity event to occur at a predicted future time, wherein the probable future activity event comprises that the user device will exhaust battery power prior to the time of day for charging the user device; and
providing, using the user device, an enhanced user experience based on the probable future activity event by causing presentation of a notification recommending that the user charge the user device.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein causing presentation of the notification occurs responsive to a determination that the user is located at a location where the user has previously charged the user device.
11 . The system of claim 9 , the method further comprising receiving sensor data for predicting the probable future activity event.
12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the sensor data is provided from a sensor associated with the user device.
13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the enhanced user experience is provided at least in part using a second user device.
14 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the probable future activity event comprises a sequence of user actions.
15 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the sensor data comprises one or more of location-related data, time-related data, usage-related data, or data about the user.
16 . A method comprising:
accessing an inferred user activity pattern for a user, the inferred user activity pattern associated with how a user interacts with a user device and comprising a device usage-related feature and a context feature, wherein the inferred user activity pattern comprises an indication of an activity performed on the user device manually by the user; predicting a probable future activity event to occur at a predicted future time, wherein the probable future activity event comprises performance of the activity by the user; and providing, using the user device, an enhanced user experience based on the probable future activity event by causing the activity to be performed automatically on the user device.
17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising receiving sensor data for predicting the probable future activity event.
18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the sensor data is provided from a sensor associated with the user device.
19 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the probable future activity event comprises a sequence of user actions.
20 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the sensor data comprises one or more of location-related data, time-related data, usage-related data, or data about the user.
21 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the activity comprises browsing to a website, launching an application, initiating a communication, performing a search query, setting a reminder, or scheduling an event on a calendar.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
