Claims

Abstract

The present technology provides a disinfectant textile composition having antimicrobial, wash durable, optionally enhanced with multifunctional properties. The technology also provides a method of treating a textile substrate. The method comprises applying a disinfecting treating composition using one or more of an exhaust, padding, coating or spraying process. The treating composition comprises an antifungal agent and further comprises a cross-linking agent. The method also comprises drying the textile substrate using a heat setting process.

We claim: 
     
         1 . A method of treating a textile substrate comprising the steps:
 applying a first disinfecting treating composition comprising one or more first antimicrobial agents using an exhaust process;   applying a second disinfecting treating composition comprising one or more second antimicrobial agents using a padding process; and   subjecting the textile to a heat setting process;   
       wherein in the first and second antimicrobial agents selected from a group comprising quaternary ammonium organosilane compound, silver salt, polyglucosamine, biocoated silver particles, and polyhexamethylene biguanide, and are applied to the textile material. 
     
     
         2 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the first or second treating composition further comprises a cross-linking agent. 
     
     
         3 . The method according to  claim 2 , wherein the cross-linking agent is a blocked isocyanate. 
     
     
         4 . The method according to  claim 2 , wherein the first or second treating composition comprises the cross-linking agent in a concentration range of between 1 ppm to 300 ppm. 
     
     
         5 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the treated textile is subjected to a second heat setting process. 
     
     
         6 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the heat setting process comprises passing the treated textile substrate through a stenter frame which provides heat of between 110° C.-180° C. with a dwell time of between 1-7 minutes. 
     
     
         7 . The method according to  claim 5 , wherein the heat setting process comprises passing the treated textile substrate through a stenter frame which provides heat of between 110° C.-180° C. with a dwell time of between 1-7 minutes. 
     
     
         8 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the first or second disinfecting treating composition further comprises an antifungal agent selected from the group of thiabendazoles or propiconazoles and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         9 . The method according to  claim 8 , wherein the first or second disinfecting treating composition comprises the antifungal agent in a concentration range of between 0.5 ppm to 200 ppm. 
     
     
         10 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the first or second disinfecting treating composition further comprises an emulsifying agent which is at least one selected from the group consisting of polyoxyethylene monostearate, polyoxyethylene sorbitan monolaurate, and polyethylene glycol 400 monolaurate and combinations thereof and is used in a concentration of between 0.1 ppm to 200 ppm. 
     
     
         11 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the textile substrate is made of a natural textile or a synthetic textile that is woven, drawn, knitted, crocheted, bonded or non-woven. 
     
     
         12 . The method according to  claim 11 , where the natural textile is at least one selected from the group consisting of wool, cotton, silk linen, hemp, ramie and jute, or the synthetic fabric is at least one selected from the group consisting of rayon, nylon, non-acrylic olefin, acrylic polyester, PTFE, PP, PPE, carbon fiber, vinyon, saran, spandex, vinalon, aramids, modal, sulfur, polybenzimidazole fibre, PLA, lyocell, orlon, vectran and zylon acrylonitrile. 
     
     
         13 . The method according to  claim 11 , wherein the textile substrate is blended. 
     
     
         14 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the textile substrate is made from a yarn that is spun, electrospun, drawn or extruded. 
     
     
         15 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the first and/or second disinfecting treating composition in the exhaust and/or padding process is used in a concentration range of between 0.1 to 10%. 
     
     
         16 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the quaternary ammonium organosilane compound has the molecular structure 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       is used in the range of 0.5%-5%. 
     
     
         17 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the quaternary ammonium organosilane compound is an octadecylaminomethyl trihydroxysilylpropyl ammonium chloride, used in the range of 5 to 50 g/L. 
     
     
         18 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein the first or second disinfecting treating composition further comprises at least one treating agent selected from the group consisting of water and oil repellents, abrasion resistant agents, antistatic agents, antipilling agents, easy care resins, wetting agents, wicking chemicals, softeners, mosquito repellants, UV protectors, soil releasing agents, viscosity modifiers, pH modifiers, emulsifying agents and combinations thereof.
