Abstract
According to embodiments, methods, devices and systems can include monitoring all of a first channel for a first monitoring period. After the first monitoring period, monitoring at least one narrow band for at least a first narrow band signal. In response to detecting the first narrow band signal, establishing a network connection over the narrow band, wherein the at least one narrow band has a frequency range less than one half that of the first channel.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 23 . (canceled)
24 . A method, comprising:
by operation of a first wireless device:
monitoring for predetermined wireless communications transmitted over any one of a plurality of channels;
after monitoring the at least one channel, monitoring a plurality of resource units (RUs) of the channel for predetermined RU communications transmitted within one of the RUs, each RU being a different portion of the at least one channel;
in response to detecting the predetermined RU communications in one of the RUs, establishing a connection with a second wireless device over the one RU;
sending a channel clearing transmission over that at least one channel configured to reserve the at least one channel for a predetermined amount of time; and
transmitting data to or receiving data from the second wireless device over the one RU.
25 . The method of claim 24 , wherein:
the second wireless device comprises a wireless gateway device.
26 . The method of claim 24 , wherein:
the predetermined wireless communications transmitted over the channel comprise a beacon transmission compatible with at least one IEEE 802.11 wireless standard.
27 . The method of claim 24 , wherein:
the plurality of channels are part of a plurality of bands, including a 2.4 GHz band, a 5 GHz band and a 6 GHz band.
28 . The method of claim 24 , further including:
by operation of the first wireless device, after receiving downlink data from the second wireless device, transmitting and acknowledgement communication.
29 . The method of claim 28 , wherein:
that acknowledgement communication is transmitted over the one RU.
30 . The method of claim 24 , further including:
periodically switching between monitoring for the predetermined wireless communications transmitted over the at least one channel and monitoring the plurality of RUs.
31 . A device, comprising:
radio circuits formed in an integrated circuit substrate and configured to transmit and receive signals across a plurality of bands, each band comprising a plurality of channels, each channel comprising a plurality of resource units; communication circuits formed in the integrated circuit substrate and configured to
monitor communications received on any of a plurality of channels for first type communications;
monitor communications received within single RUs of a plurality of channels for first type RU communications;
establish a connection with another wireless device over a single RU in response to receiving first type RU communications over the single RU; and
transmit uplink data to or receive downlink data from the other wireless device over the single RU.
32 . The device of claim 31 , wherein:
the plurality of bands include a 2.4 GHz band, a 5 GHz band and a 6 GHz band.
33 . The device of claim 31 , wherein:
the communication circuits are further configured to generate an acknowledgement communication in response to receiving downlink data over the single RU.
34 . The device of claim 33 , wherein:
the radio circuits are configured to transmit the acknowledgement over the single RU.
35 . The device of claim 31 , wherein:
the first type communications comprise beacon communications according to at least one IEEE 802.11 wireless standard.
36 . The device of claim 31 , wherein:
the radio circuits include a modulator circuit configured to modulate communications over the one RU at a first rate and over a channel at a second rate, faster than the first rate.
37 . The device of claim 31 , wherein:
the other wireless device comprises a wireless gateway device.
38 . A system, comprising:
a first wireless device configured to
transmit and receive signals across a plurality of bands, each band comprising a plurality of channels, each channel comprising a plurality of resource units;
monitor of a plurality of channels for first type communications;
monitor single RUs for first type RU communications;
establish a connection with a second wireless device over a single RU in response to receiving first type RU communications over the single RU; and
transmit uplink data to or receive downlink data from the second wireless device over the one RU.
39 . The system of claim 38 , wherein:
the second wireless device comprises a wireless gateway device.
40 . The system of claim 38 , further including:
the second wireless device is configured to transmit a clear channel signal over one of the channels; at least a third wireless device having a communication link over at least one of the channels with the second wireless device, configured to cease communications in response to the clear channel signal for a predetermined time period; and the first wireless device is configured to communicate over the one RU during the predetermined time period.
41 . The system of claim 38 , wherein:
the first wireless device is further configured to periodically switch between monitoring the plurality of channels and monitoring single RUs.
42 . The system of claim 38 , wherein:
the second wireless device is configured to periodically switch between transmitting a channel beacon on at least one of the channels and transmit an RU beacon within one of the RUs; the first type communications include the channel beacon; and the first type RU communications include the RU beacon.
43 . The system of claim 42 , wherein:
the channel beacon is a beacon compatible with at least one IEEE 802.11 wireless standard.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
